Description

After I updated this design, I couldn't keep myself from looking back at the other variant of this ship and instantly saw several changes I wanted to make. So, here we are: The base of the ship now sports storage tanks for life support and other volatiles, the textures have been adjusted in fairly subtle ways. The rings are positioned in a slightly different manner, and offset to emphasize that they are counter-rotating (to reduce the torque on the main ship) and the docking port on the front has moved forward slightly to make access a bit easier. Picky details, I know, but the more I looked at the previous one the more I wanted to fix it. As before, the ship was modeled and rendered in Bryce 6, the background and compositing, as well as other post working effects, were all done in Photoshop CS3. Thanks for taking a look everyone and comments/critiques are certainly welcome.

Truly a wonder at full-size. Is this ship taking reservations?

Nice improvements! I just looked at the two side by side, and I can see the differences clearly. Looks like some more separation between the rings, too. Nice texture improvements and details, plus, I like the colors on the nebula background a bit better on this one.

How can you improve perfection? By making it even more perfect - Great Job.

I love your tweaks...and I know how much fun it is to tweak something until its perfect! The original version of this baby rocked, and this rocks as well...I actually noticed the slightly played-around-with aspects of the forward docking bay, and had visions of a little bitty ship heading into that bay, but that's just me shamelessly putting myself in the middle of the drama, since I was the one piloting that little ship heading into the bay. :-) Yeah, I can be shameless at times, but I suspect that might be okay. I like this as much as the previous incarnation, and I see them as one generation of starship and it's successor...that's because the first design was excellent, and this is excellent as well...rather like "Classic" and "still-classic-but-refined." You're so good at this...yeah and okay, you got that sociologically-accurate-costume and rock balancing thing going too! This rocks! I like it a lot.
