Description

Before the First Interstellar War, several interesting worlds were discovered, that were considered prospects for terraforming efforts. A huge project like that would take a long time, and needed a very detailed understanding of the target world. The frozen ball here is one such world, and a quick station was placed in orbit (Using the same mass-produced components used in space craft, as it turned out) and a trio of landers are taking scientists down to begin the studies. While the war would delay these projects, sometimes dreams find unusual outlets; but that's a different story for another time. -------------- I couldn't help but want to play with the passenger-rings I'd rigged up for my earlier posts. These were modeled and rendered in Bryce, while the planet, starscape and such are all in Photoshop. Thanks for taking a look. Comments, criticisms, and critiques are definitely welcome!

Nice touch with the reentering landers. Cute title, but unless they're counterrotating at precisely different speeds (or unless the whole assembly is rotating), you're going to have a torque problem with an uneven number of wheels.

If I come up with three cherries, do I win? heh! Seriously, always a treat to see what you come up with next. Also like the landers entering the atmosphere.

A triple-ringed O'Neill structure! WOW! You've outdone Clarke on this one! It looks so...well...so space-station-ish, a bit utilitarian, and wonderfully "mass produced" as the constraints of that universe have established. I love the feasibility of this. I hope to see more, and learn more of the story here...I really do hope you're writing this stuff down. Your future history is intriguing and is rich in little enigmatic details to accompany your gorgeously realistic renderings. Needless to say, this is a favorite. I should add that I like the vessels entering the planetary atmosphere! Great detailing for such "small" components of the image. There's a kind of accuracy that defies easy explanation here, especially since I can think of any potential crew members/passengers on board those vessels, looking at view screens and seeing entry-plasma boiling off of ablative shields and thinking to themselves, "Holy frak...we're certainly not in Kansas now."

Sweet looking station. Glad to see someone understands that space structures in the future will be mass produced from components of space craft because it makes sense, saves money, and no one wants to reinvent the wheel in real life. Nice job.
