Hi, I'm Marilyn. Â I've been posting here on RR for a few years now and thought it was time to update my profile. Â It's been wonderful learning so much from the amazingly talented people here. Â I've had the chance to meet many in person and some have become great and good friends. Â Starting with a Kodak Brownie camera when I was about 7 or 8, moving up to Instamatics, Polaroids, then the Pentax K1000 that really got me on the way, I've been looking at the world thru a lens for a long time. Â Got the bug honestly; my dad was a photographer and gave me the gene!! Â Digital changed the world and I jumped in with both feet. Â You would've gone thru 100's of rolls of film in one day the way we can shoot and delete all day long. Â Progess...it can be awesome sometimes.
At any rate, RR rocks, the talent is over the top and I'm just gonna keep on shooting!!
Thanks for looking and keep those cameras rollin'!!
peace.....marilyn

Hi Marilyn. I'm at a loss for words:) What is to be said for a handful of faceless manikins? I do like the nightime glow and reflections. And just think, window dressers get paid for all these far out displays:-)

Yes, I agree, this is you, Maz, with the deep contrasts, abstract patterns and lighting effects, etc. Lots of eerieness in this shot, and even more so when these mannikins come to life after the store closes.

This is a perfect shot and a wonderful commentary...high fashion and faceless mannequins! How perfect is that as a comment?! I never understood the fascination with geometry in high fashion...I mean...you're selling pants and shoes and underwear, so what does it really have to do with all of the advertising glitz that goes into selling shoes or something. On the flipside, this is a gorgeous shot full of perceptive humor as well. This is good stuff.
