Description

(more bug comic, picking up immediately after "Still There") Shadow and Blade finally notice Dragonfly...he's walking towards the base door, until Shadow holds up his hand and says: "'Fly, you can't go in there!" Shadow can tell something isn't right with Dragonfly, because he's not only using his IR vision, but the inner lid is shut entirely, which happens only when an Aer is either in a rage, or very sick. Blade can see what is wrong with Dragonfly...there is an Azali spider clamped to the back of Dragonfly's neck like a giant tick (which the spiders were originally developed from.) Dragonfly says to Shadow "I have to report for duty..I'm not allowed up here." Shadow says; "There's no one in there, Dragonfly, they're all gone. Long ago." Dragonfly tries to step around Shadow. "I have to report to my ship. They're waiting. I'll get in trouble up here." _________________________________________ This looks like a dumb little 3 person render, but it ended up being a huge headache since I don't use Poser's cameras correctly, the perspective looked goofy. I ended up repainting Blade almost entirely because he looked too small, and everyone's hands looked the wrong size, and on and on. The only good thing about it was that Dragonfly finally has the right length hair, and I discovered a filter I didn't know about in Photoshop under Texture called "Patchwork" which I used on the grip of Shadow's gun, but it also looks very useful for walls and other things. Because of the size restrictions, you can't see details like Dragonfly's chipped tooth. Two years ago Dragonfly made the mistake of asking a hungover Blade if there were any crackers left, and Blade answered him with a punch in the face. The day after that Shadow went and stole two guns from the Fairview gun shop, and gave one to Dragonfly. Sadly, that is the one Dragonfly just dropped over the side of the platform (just before "It's Still There"). And I'm really happy with that SetoKaiba pale m4 texture--the skin looks right for any underground dwelling guy, it's got a little shine to it as well. The door is from Mapps SF construction set, too! And many thanks to genefleeman for cleaning up my text;)

Well you did a fabulous 'repainting' job. Boy, I can relate to your struggles. Sometimes a render works and sometimes it's just a pain. Great little story and if that guy was smart he'd stay away. That is an awfully big bug hanging around the door! And it is super creepy too! Shivers up my spine!

This is definitely worth the extra click to see the awesome details that goes into one of your images! Although I'm not sure I liked that up close and personal bug lurking over the doorway. Fantastic work Lynn!

That's really good, probably your best one yet, composition wise. I really like the POV from the wall opening. And I hate your bugs lol Good thing I have some time before going to bed lol

What a fantastic work you did - I am already seeing you answering masses of messages asking for those hairstyles LOL About the goofy camera - if this happens in most cases increasing the focal (length) of the camera halps. The standard 55 is far too low for most render situations.

Excellent POV.. I like the story as well but I see you copy-pasted it cause it added all the extra letters where the apostrophes should be.. It does that to me too and I have to always go back and hand change the quotation and apostrophes .. Didn't detract from my liking this though.. Top ratiings..

oh no! poor Dragonfly. for some reason i feel like he's just a little sweeter and more in need of protection. both the story and the illustrations do a good job of putting him in the role of the "baby" brother. underground dwelling, huh? that would explain some things about their skin. if i seem obsessed with it, it's because i kind of am. i'm working on shaders now, and i'm getting a bit single minded. this is really great story telling. somehow i didn't register that centipede at first (i think i blocked it out), but it sets up a wonderful tension. and while i first saw the work more than the story, i now see the story much more than the work. i know that has its downsides; it's easy to flip through a years work of work in one comic or graphic novel. but the better you get, the more the story and the characters in it shine through. to look at the work, the poses and expressions are really great. i love how you composed the picture. the doorway does a beautiful job of framing Dragonfly without being contrived. your DOF is effective as well. man, that centipede is creepy!

Those guys better listen to Shadow, he knows of what he speaks. Great image, love the painted effects, and the story is rocking on nicely. Two thumbs way up Lynn. :)
