Many of you have seen pictures of an old car found in a barn that's been the home for chickens, pidgeons, mice, you name it, for years. Tires flat, corrosion, missing parts...a total mess. That's the way this plane was found sometime in the early 1990s. In January 2000, the US Air Force Museum's Restoration Division completed its meticulous restoration of the world's only known Northrop A-17A. This aircraft was delivered brand new to the Army Air Corps in June 1937. The last A-17 was taken off the books in January 1945.
I did the same thing with this image as I've recently done with War Prize #1, #2 and #3. Highlighting the aircraft and fading the background (which in actuality is quite busy).

Excellent postwork! That's a great way to show off the plane in all its glory. I like the silhouette of the plane that's hanging from the ceiling. It appears to give this plane context, as if it were sitting at on the tarmac at at air field, or perhaps just leveling after takeoff. Spectacular results!

Like the Pheonix that rose from the ashes. Superb bit of restoration with this aircraft of olde, Bill. Love that chrome propeller. With those perforated flaps, I thought it was a Douglas SBD-5 Dauntless dive-bomber when I first saw it. Actually, the Dauntless was developed from the Northrop A-17. And you did a yeoman's job of capturing and postworking the image. Extremely stellar presentation, my friend.

Cool shot of a plane with greta postwork to single it out.It served in several air forces and saw some combat in China. A-17 was a fine example of 1930s engineering and came in both fixed and retractable landing gear models. Some of the successful features of this plane were incorporated into the Douglas Dauntless dive bomber after Douglas acquired Northrop.
