this is an image for ana's birthday on 06/12 - ana is a good friend and a very fine artist! i know she likes my pawns and i thougt i should offer her fado, the traditional portugese music.
happy birthday, ana and thanks for your friendship.
(luckily several people reminded me in time because i always forget birthdays, thanks, guys)

Oh, I love your Pawns...they're always so expressive and vibrant. I had no idea that Pawns were such good guitar players now. They make a perfect birthday gift as well! Fantastic work, as always, and a wonderful gift for Ana.

wonderful image for dear & oh-so talented Ana, a wonderful friend to us all. You got the fado feel, too: A few musicians, one singer, one or two guitars, and the black of the soloist (some traditional fado singers wear black, even robes & leggings, etc). And damned if you didn't get the guitar details right! (You built instruments, didn't you!) The six tuning knobs, the right shape for the tuning plate, what appears to be six 'nuts' at the top of the guitar which hold the strings in place (yep I enlarged the thing to see if I could count them!), even the decreasing space between the frets as they move up the finger board. (I didn't count the frets: I'm giving you a break on that! If you got the number correct, I'll give up art and become a longshoreman...) I love the diagonals & how they transverse everyone (feels musical), and the placement of the musicians. I remember fado coming from sea songs, which is fitting as Ana lives on the ocean in Lisboa. But it's also fitting because Ana is a flying spirit, intense, and big as the ocean. So the form is fitting for her. Well Happy Birthday to dear Ana, and a belated "wonderful job" to you! (And I have to assume you've been around musical instruments, 'cause your rendering of them are just right.) A terrific performance & gift for our dear friend, who I hope has many, many more. Maravilhoso, fadista! (I hope that's the right word! I think "fadista" also means a rough person! I mean the musician, lol.)
