don't try this at home, folks!
it is not a fractal - all made from scratch in sketchup.
the idea came to me when just doing nothing. make a spere and explode it into parts.
it made me giddy and cross eyed - there are 288 separate parts in each sphere.
i always admired escher and this made my admiration grow again.
after i finished the left one i made the right one (no idea why)
the bigger picture is a lot better.

Koosie, you just knock my socks off with your Escheresque images. This is so fantastic. I love the sense of energy and force moving over and through the orbs. The technical skill you have developed is beginning to show in a major way. It is interesting to see these and the pawns side by side. It is complexity and simplicity in contrast. Wow! Koosie, these are great! :)

I'm fond of M.C. Escher, too. As soon as I speak about art and mathematics this artist is here : perspectives, metamorphosis, pavings ( in french : pavages du plan )....Unfortunately he is not appreciated by "art makers" ( that means "money makers" ).

This is absolutely fantastic Koosie! And you said it came, when you were doing nothing??? Well, I would like to know what you will come with, when you are thinking!!!!!An explosion from inside to outside!!! Everything is flying around...Great play with science and the centripetal and centrifugal forces at the same time...well i can see here a fabulous study of "equilibrium" between them....i think! And i agree with Suzanne and what she said about simplicity and complexity! You have it all:-)))))amazing technique!!Great Work again!

OH MY Koosie. This looks really great. It must have taken weeks to do. The result is superb. What couldnt you create, if you also were thinking.

Oejejoeiiiii... ik denk dat hier verschrikkelijk veel werk en kopbrekens in zit maar, Koosie... 't loont echt wel de moeite. En zeggen dat er programma's zijn die het in één seconde op de monitor toveren (Groboto)...maar daar heb je weinig of niets aan...trouwens, ik ook niet !

what an exciting experminent, koosie, it makes one dizzy to look at and i can understand it made you looking with crossed eyes :) never the less, it was worth the crossed eyes, this looks quite hazardous and excellent at the same time, a bit like a strange mechanism from ... someplace else :)

What an exciting image. I'm currently at work on a science fiction story involving a Dyson sphere...and well...such an object as often depicted in science fiction cannot exist unless it looks something like these two beauties. I like it when art cross-pollinates the way this did with stuff that I'm thinking about. I also love the elegance of your work. It's always such a pleasure to explore! This is fantastic.
