Description

Thank you for viewing. I'm considering creating a large package of png files that would consist of planet layers, nebula layers and spacescape backgrounds and selling it here. But I really don't know if it's something other sci-fi artists would buy or are interested in. Following simple instructions you'd be able to make a picture like the one above. There'd be at least a dozen layers each of planets, nebulas and backgrounds for thousands of possible combinations. Are people interested in this? On the edge of known space lies the foreboding planet known as Leng. Dotting its windswept, barren surface are ancient, decaying structures once inhabited by a species that disappeared more than a billion years ago. But now, some say, in the shadows of dark, dead canyons of rock and steel, something is moving...and a shadow seems to be quietly stretching out to darken the stars.... Enjoy, and let me know what you think. The more feedback on the space construction package the better.

I am, though the package would have to be substantial in what can be done with what it comes with... know what I mean? Ex: Craters, Clouds, Storms, cities, Asteroids, Spaceships, Rings (Saturn like), Suns, Nebulas, vapor/gas trails, land masses, water, explosions (on surface of planets and/or ships) etc... Yeah you package that stuff in it and put it with a nice tutorial... I AM THERE! OooHhh just thought of another too, Holographic looking versions of all of the above too! Just thinking of all the uses "I personally" would have for something like that. Wow... now I cant wait! LOL

There's some good ideas in there jchristenberry. I especially like the idea of holographic versions that people could use for display screens and the like.

Great image! I love the space background - nebulae and stars. The planets look great, too. The one thing to keep in mind with selling a package might be the illumination phases on planet layers -- for multiple worlds, they all need to be about the same phase, crescents like those in this image are good, so are head-on shots. And of course, people could rotate and invert the images at will. Mixing different phases, though... not so much. .PSD layers might sell better than .PNG layers. Just a thought.

Pretty sure many folks would be interested in a package like that. I'd encourage you to go ahead with the project.

Actually this would be great, especially the planet scenes, i usually to make them in Mojoworld but the renders take forever in high res, anything that i can use with depth in the scene would be great, go for it !!!

I think it could be a good idea, also the holo version! I did an holo in one of my renders and I worked a lot about it! Great scene!

I love scenes like this and have crafted a few of my own in photoshop. They're so much fun, and I love your planet textures. Great sense of scale and color as well. This is gorgeous work, especially your star-field. It has character, depth, and doesn't just look like salt spilled on black construction paper (too many starfields look like that,) and it's good to see an exciting emission nebula and varied star colors here. This is superb.
