Description

Captured back on 10/27/08, at the 7th Annual Wings Wheels Rotors & Expo, held at the beautiful Joint Forces Training Base (JFTB) in beautiful Los Alamitos, California. Better viewed full size. I'm dedicating this to Carin because she's an old hand at this sport. Excuse the amputation of the feet in the bottom three pictures, but the action was so rapid that I should have increased my shutter speed. Live and learn. Maybe that wouldn't have helped either because the jumpers were very close and dropping really fast, even too fast for me to aim, compose and shoot with my aim and shoot camera. With the Golden Knights decending en masse, I was aiming and shooting blindly through the view finder during most of this activity anyway, plus looking into the sun. I know...excuses, excuses. Oh well, maybe next time. Actually, you need a SLR for this kind of stuff. Ta-ta, and have a good one.

You did way better than I would have done under the circumstances -- nicely done!

Cool stuff Harry. Like the 2nd shot. Great yellow color of the canvas.

I had to go back and re-look at the first set, because what strikes me most acutely in this set is the lines. They are very clear in these close shots. I like the third one best because of the symmetry of the lines. Beautiful captures!

Still can't see why anyone would jump out of a perfectly good airplane...but these folksseem to be very good at what they do...like the 2nd shot...

Oh Harry - thank you! How very kind and thoughtful of you! Someone made a comment about the lines... Those are so important. When you pack the parachute you have to make sure that the lines are seperated because seriously twisted lines could mean a reserve shoot ride for the jumper... Wonderful collage indeed!

I echo the reaction of all above Harry. I shot the Golden Knights two years ago here but wasn't as close...so, it boils down to these are tricky shots for any of us. Nicely done...as you often say, under difficult conditions:)

Great shots O'lboy. These would be a great candidate for the "daisy treatment, or some other form of destructo postwork!
