Description

Just drumming up a new shader effect - going for that industrial look of worn and weathered paint. Also made and applied a 'grit' bump map for the hazard strip paint. Sofar this is a 2 layer shader. Let me know what you think. Honest opinions, critique and constructive criticism welcome. Robot is daz's Plat Club Robo Warrior series I picked up last month, really fun set to mix and match. Just been getting over some major body aches and pains (the wonders of an unexpected pinched nerve will do to ya).

Looks nice, but I'm allergic to bees so it makes me a little nervous. :p

I like the look you've created, but the worn areas seem to still be a little too "sharp" along their edges. Needs a lot of little "micro" peelings spread out a bit more to my mind. Pinched nerve? Been there and still doing it! A bit like being electricuted, isn't it? You have my empathy.

Looking pretty darn good for a work in progress... Kind of agree with kier 99 tho'. Looks like it needs to "fade" a little more at the edges, although that might not be so critical with different lighting. Flat light is never very generous or forgiving... Reminds me of 70's and 80's sci-fi, and the obsession with service 'droids, and that works well for the robot's design and shape. Excellent work my friend!

Thanks! I'll get back to it soon as I finish up another render project i'm hoping to get done soon. I've got a few ideas I can try for making the edges of the paint chipped & peeled... As well as perhaps add a bit more 'jag & scratch' to the coat. The technique / blend of shaders that'll be required for the effect is something I hadn't tried before on this particular level. I'll have to see how well it works and post a WIP #2...

Looks great so far I think. Some scratches and a wee bit of rust would look good.
