Description

Personal log from Terraforming Specialist Thomas Ericsson: "Leaving was surprisingly bittersweet for us all. We'd been here for 5 years, and would finally be returning to our homes and families now that a new team has taken over the project. Yet, we'd been watching a world transform before our very eyes, steering it to something we hoped would allow for a new Earth. It was a long time to be away, and the journey home would be very long as well. But we'd all come to love this new world, and found ourselves reluctant to turn it over to someone else's care." -- Another look at the post-war ambitions of Humanity as they embraced the hope that so many were feeling after a scary time had passed. All was not, of course, perfectly peaceful. Humanity still was prone to their darker impulses as much as ever, but for the most part those were brief moments and minor setbacks as they surged forward and expanded more than anyone had believed possible. ---------------- The ships were modeled and rendered in Bryce 6, designs I've been playing with for quite a while now. But for this particular time and project it was the right ships for this image. The planet and stars were primarily done in Photoshop, as were the engine flares and other effects. Thanks for taking a look, and have a great weekend everyone!

Great image and text. On the three background ships, it's interesting that it looks like the engines are located in front of the rear modules. Are those back there fuel tanks or cargo? And the name: Old Norse for "Beginning Two"? "Second Start?"

Ooh, I like this a lot. You have a way with these images and a wonderful way of filling in the backstory. This rocks. I have an itchy writing finger too, and images like this always make me want to work on some good old fashioned spaceship science fiction. Great work, especially on the ship modeling and detailing. Great work as always.

Perfection! That planet is terrific and I always like the way your ship textures look used and a bit worn.
