Description
I am a warrior Who is so tired of the fight Every single day Is a battle.....vaggabondd I was going to post another image from my visit to the Museum of Glass tonight. Then I read Randy's (vaggabondd) latest post 'Battles In My Mind'. This came to me after five minutes. The devil rarely kills you all at once. After all, where's the sport in that? No, most times you die the death of a thousand cuts. Little by little it is taken from you until, in the end, you pray for death. But sometimes the devil fails. Sometimes you are just too stubborn. Why should I give anyone the satisfaction of leaving? Besides, this world is so screwed up I have to stick around to see what happens next. When you are tired of the journey, look down the road. What is beyond the next turn? Always something new. Go and find it.

Love the poem. The lonely road looks like a road I drove in the Canadian Rockies. Dana

I didn't know you wrote poetry...a succinct truthful poem, told in your usual relaxed voice, with a twist of sly humor and of course truth. vaggabondd's poem (a haiku?) has a tragic feel to it. Maybe after battling war, the battles of every day and age, loss and memory finally fells a warrior. Your poem speaks of death by a thousand cuts rather than by a big event, and of saying "screw it" to the cuts, and going on. And your life of travel, adventure and peering into the inner heart of everywhere you go and of all you meet, backs up your last stanza. Not many of us can claim that. Another succinct yet wholly conversational, relaxed and sharp piece from you---with, as Kissinger or Mao said, "the added benefit that it's also true." (Man, I just quoted two of the most f---d up people in history, in your gallery! What'm I, nuts? Just take the words, and forget the sources! I don't think you want your wisdom equated with major war criminals.) (Take heart that I didn't quote them well...)
