Description
Photographs were not allowed in the galleries but the rooftop was wide open so I braved the wind and rain to grab this scene. The sculpture on the left is Martin Blank's Fluent Steps, which consists of 754 individually hand-sculpted pieces of glass mostly created in the Museum’s Hot Shop during Blank’s 45-day Visiting Artist residency in 2008. In the center is the Thea Foss Bridge. The Tacoma Dome is on the right where grown men play children’s games for large sums of money.

wonderful architecture!!!

Wonderful to see all this. I wonder why no pics in the galleries. Glass doesn't fade like for example water colours.

Nothing like a day out with your camera at a place where one hopes to have a plethora of subjects to photograph. Only to find out, "No pictures allowed". This also tends to happen after admission has been paid for. ;~)

I love the way the glass looks like it's blowing in the wind. Excellent shot! It's been years since I've been down in that area, and I hadn't seen the new bridge. Okay ... I know it's been there for about ten or twelve years, but hey ... there's often no reason to tour your own area! LOL! Thanks for sharing this image!

You used the weather to your advantage here. In the cloudy, gloom, the bridge and sculpture really stand out. I love the somber, but rich colors and the way the glass sculpture adds to the cold blustery feel. Excellent POV.

Thanks for braving the weather to get this shot. How wonderful and the rain really adds to the whole wonderful movement of the scene. That one piece on the left, looks like it is happily sailing through the air. Spectacular and fun.

(lol, your comment on the Tacoma Dome.) A terrific shot: You may not have wanted this weather, but your inner eye took to it like a duck to water: You caught a terrific dark tone, a broad undulating (mean) sky; and the sculpture, in this light, looks like wind made flesh, so to speak. And the details around it---the bridge, the dome, the boats---all collide in this light as busy intruders, and somehow they all fit with the sculptures. They're almost like part of the art. (Well, good public installations artists always create with the surrounding in mind, so that's not a total coincidence.) But you caught a great pov for this glass wonder & neighbors. A fine creative capture, Mark. Big, brooding, colliding & energetic. And the glass leaves look like wind frozen in place.
