Description

Ever look at your work & think, "where in the world did that come from"? Well I did this 2 days before New Years, when we were without electricity. (I used a laptop & emptied the battery!) When the power came back, I looked at this & thought: "Whoa! Did I just come back from Mars???" A few friends told me I should post it anyway, so Ladies & Gentlemen: My Sci-Fi, Orb-Filled, New Year's Extravaganza for the Universe and beyond! Top: My photo out the window. The rest? Photoshop. Hope you enjoy! (Eye drops available on request...)
* * * Have a wonderful Tuesday! Mark (This is "Photo-Manipulation". I'm aware it's reeeally manipulated! Sometimes ya just gotta filter...)

First of all, what are you doing up at this hour? And second, mighty glad to see this very cool piece of art. It is brilliant, especially panels 2,3 and 4:-) If you were looking out your window when these solar flares occured, your eyes must be toast:) All kidding aside, I am only semi-qualified to comment on the first panel...love what must be the scene as the sun sets into the west and another day is done in the City with Big Shoulders. Thanks for the blast of comments in my gallery...both a treat and an honor. Now, may I have the change from the Twenty dollar bill I paid you for saying all those nice things? Sorry for being so full of myself tonight. I am going on my second wind!

I'm so glad you posted these--I love them all. The first one is my fave---it just knocks my socks off, or would if I were wearing any. The others sear into my brain like some kind of laser beam. Maybe they'll cure my nearsightedness. Sorry, I didn't get much sleep the last couple of nights and it's starting to catch up with me. At any rate, what you do in PS is awesome (oh that word is SO overused, but sometimes, well, things just ARE awesome!!). I'm blithering, but these are great and I do love them!1

OHH There it is... the wonderful view from your window. It is such a gorgeous capture. Then come the fireworks ...WOOHOO. 2 Beautiful firework images in wild happy colors and light... and the FINAL big explotion of light on the next one, so light, that the last image makes me almost believe, I will only se a pink world after this. :-D What a fantastic experience this series was.

was just typing to someone about why we have this "downer" feeling after the holidays and the beginning of the New Year. Earths cycled changes. Although many be be on the opposite end of the spectrum and experiencing the Beginning of their Spring Summer cycle; still for all us humans on the earth it is a "cycle" change. What can we bring to the table to reflect the change. Yes, we can address it with an acknowledgment of an ending. Project darkness or finality to it...or maybe we can anticipate this change...boost the effects with positive light and anticipation. This your work is what choose for the cycle change. Very glad you reposted it. Thank you!

Well you DO have a view of the lake! So interesting to see what you see! That third panel down in particular tickles the spot: it is riotous, marvellous, eye-searing excellence.

Wow, I love this; the original is beautiful, with rich colors and an almost 1920s feel to it, but your embroidery really rocks! I do love your vision!

Mark I think these are wonderful and the way you added such magical effects turned a nice photo into a splendid work of art. The second and third images especially are so dazzling and really knock you off your feet. The final one for me was ultra cool as it looks like one of those classic shots you might see in a movie with a wild theme.

You look to have had a wonderful play here and the colouring is so right for celebrating the new year. A great way to spend a powerless day. I love making my photos look different too. Excellent work.

Whoa!!! Pretty cool work! Cheri has toyed a bit with taking an image and then playing with it, but hers haven't turned out anything like this. I wish she were home right now,....but then if she were, I probably wouldn't be on the computer right now..sigh! I really love the end frame, so surreal. So many forces at work, but in the end the buildings still stand.......yet everything is different now. Happy new year my friend, I've been AWOL from here for the last several weeks and didn't even have a power outtage. End of the year crunch at work, half the people to do it all,..and simply no ambition once home for anything. It's great to be back....mostly!

Very wild filter work. Fireworks and solar flares, maybe a little trendy chemical amusement aids? A psychedelic flash forward!

Where to start! I think I'll just go as I experienced it. The first shot is a beautiful mixture of flowing serenity and blockish geometric shapes. I like that. It gives a sense of drama and sets the pulses racing, even as the tone calms. I like the slightly bowl-like sweep of the sunset. Great reflected light on the top of the white building! Moving down into eye drop territory, the eyes are momentarily stunned by the change. Instead of calm, there is explosive light and color. Only the center geometric shapes remain. The rest is blasted into obscurity. I think the third is my favorite. Such fanciful thoughts came into my mind as I looked at it. In the shadows above the building, I saw horns. It made me think that the building was fighting off an attack. As if an energy was emanating from it, affecting everything around. I love the streakiness of the background, like a large group of tall buildings are gathering all around. Also the way the light crosses over the two pictures. Wonderful abstract image! It transfers perfectly to the last one. I can imagine, that if I were standing on the roof and looked up, I would see something very otherworldly and very like the abstract. After looking at them top down, I tried it bottom up. That works really well too.

A superlative science fiction trip thru alternate dimensions in this stunning exercise of blazing light and color, Mark! Stellar job considering the unfavorable conditions. I wonder which of these dimensions I would prefer to live in. The brilliantly lighted ones might be too much for me to acclimate to and function in.

Wonderful view of the sunset from your window Mark:-))...Well, I think you flied from your window and did a walk into the city by night, between the lights and the colours in a fantastic dance of joy! I see a marvelous fantasy here!It seems you touched the unknown in perfect connection with...and you returned early morning through the window again..LOL! Great work Mark. Forgive me the story..but your pannels tells a tale:-)))

Aha! I've been looking for this! The antidote for cloudy, dull days!! Well, I don't really mind cloudy days as I love clouds, but when it's just a dull leaden gray sky with no color variations, no real cloud shapes.. well this is just what the doctor ordere! Wonderful blazes of light, fabulous doses of color, and serious infusions of BOTH sunshine and moonshine!! What more could a person ask for??
