Description

Oh dear, dear, dear, dear....too many photographs and too little time. Captured back on 8/15/09, around 12 noon, at the beautiful Huntington Library, Art Collections, and Botanical Gardens in beautiful San Marino, California. Better viewed full size. I've made about five visits to this fabulous place, 21 miles away, since May of 2009, not only to take pictures, but also to view their ever changing display of fine art collections. I'm a paid-up senior citizen member so I don't have to shell out the exorbitant entrance fee each time I pass through their cultured gates. Hence, I've had the opportunity of snapping several tons/tonnes of photos there. Can you spot the fish in foto #4? Toodles, and you know the rest.

Very cool collage. I like lily pads, and where there are lily pads there are usually frogs, which I love, hanging around. Great shots.

ditto marilyn: These are splendid! Each one shimmers...Your contrasts are splendid, the reflections are shimmering, the compositions move from vertical backgrounds to the spill of the water & the pads, and you have enough variety in the way the light plays, from shot to shot, to make a wonderful theme & variations. And the last shot--different from the rest because of the darker hues of the leaves, and all those rocks--is a wonderful ending. Lush & opulent without being overdone, a splendid burst of images, which one could look at for a long time & not tire of. Really fine work Harry! And a must full-size!

What a gorgeous collage of this wonderful vista! It looks so tranquil and I would probably spend some time there every weekend if I could. Hope you got a close-up of one of those magnificent flowers too! :)

What a beautiful pond, and all these shots are lovely; there's nothing quite as serene as lily pads!

These are gorgeous. Harry this is your style of old...you've got it back. Great job my friend. The light does burst out of each shot. I've finally learned, the subject matter of a photo isn't half as important as how well you treat the mood, the atmosphere...the spirit of the whole thing. So, I am comfortable with taking a handgrenade one day, a rose another, a model railroad another, a bird another..well you know what I am saying. This is great. Only change I'd have made is to put up your best one and let your audience wonder what you've still got hidden for another day. Great job...fave:)

These are beautiful, Harry! I love the depth of the first one. It seems like I could follow the lead of the children of Narnia and walk right into it. Of course I would get a little wet. Beautiful reflections and light too. I think the second is my favorite. It has such simple and refined beauty. The water looks like a painting and the pads are so clear and satiny. I love the shiny lily pads against the dark green water. The next is rich and lush, with the reflections becoming tangled with the plants above. The fourth one seems a convention of lily pads. They seem to be gathering for a meeting. I think the fish is trying to escape before he has to listen to a long adress. The last one wraps it up nicely with another great overview and with wonderful color and reflections. Terrific images!
