Description
Captured today, 1/9/10, early in the morning, about a mile from my secluded sanctuary.
I thought at first this was a Paper Bark tree, but after further scrutiny I don't know what it is. Maybe some of the floral mavens or tree experts out there in Renderosity can identify it.
Okay, Dry Brush filter used in foto #1, Paint Daubs in #2, Rough Pastels in #3, and the original in #4.
Toodes, and thankx for stopping by.

Looks like this must be a "rough" neighborhood. Very unique tree Harry. Well done...I am a big fan of the original on this one. Variations do a good job on illustrating effects of a few goodolefilters.

This is just so cool! I love trees and tree bark! This tree is just fascinating! I would think animals and people would feel a compulsion to pull strips off. (Not that I would condone this, of course) I think I'll go with the original this. It is a beautiful capture of an amazing tree. I love the shapes in #1 and the motion in #3. Excellent!

Rough pastel sure made it exciting but I have to admit the original I like the best. I have not seen this 'spiky' version yet. Good job Harry!

All are nice, but the original shot really shows the tree off. I'm not sure what kind it is, but it looks awesome.

Hello Harry! I am so pleased you liked the image I did, thank you and I will thank Lucinda for letting you know:-) I had a quick browse thru your gallery this morning, I am so sorry I didn't see it before, you have some truly amazing photography! I think sometimes I talk to much but I simply have to say whats in my heart:-) This image rocks! If it could talk I wonder the story it could tell! #1 reminds me of what we called puzzle trees when I was a child (great memory!) The pieces that lay on the ground we would try to put together:-) #2 looks as tho the bark has opened baring its soul to show us the life that travels inside. Reminds me very much of the leaves changing in fall and the process it goes thru! #3 is like a fine tapestry on the wall, simply a great texture that makes you want to reach out and touch it( I shall have to try the rough pastels on one of my photos)! and last but certainly not least, #4 is simply wonderful, the texture of the bark, the colors from light to dark, gorgeous! I guess you can tell I am a tree lover:-) Thank you again and thanks for sharing your awesome works with us!

Is it some kind of eucalyptus, perhaps? I can't tell, but the bark is gorgeous. I prefer the original myself, but playing with filters is definitely fun!

wow, just read Lynn's comments (ShadowsNTime): I'm so glad she found your work! She really felt the spirit in this tree. And Lucinda also delves into your work so beautifully. Of course I always read your old regulars, and it's so nice to see how they resonate with what you do. The filtered versions are all fun & bursting, the top one really penetrates the nature of that bark, while the others do variations on the theme of this amazing bark...and that original is wonderful, it has fine shade & texture, and really, it feels like a tree that put on a huge work-of-art for the world. Amazing capture. I've never seen bark like that. More fine work from you, once more...
