Description

Captured on 10/25/09, at the 8th Annual Wings Wheels Rotors & Expo, held at the beautiful Joint Forces Training Base (JFTB) in beautiful Los Alamitos, California. And it was very warm out there on the field. Better viewed full size. ----------------------- The North American T-6 Texan is a single-engine advanced trainer aircraft used to train fighter pilots of the United States Army Air Forces, United States Navy, Royal Air Force and other air forces of the British Commonwealth during World War II. Designed by North American Aviation, The T-6 is known by a variety of designations depending on the model and operating air force. The USAAC designated it as the "AT-6", the US Navy the "SNJ", and British Commonwealth air forces, the Harvard, the name it is best known by outside of the United States. It remains a popular warbird aircraft. Source: Wikepedia encyclopedia ----------------------- There were two or three of these T-6 Texans at the event, either painted or in a shiny aluminum. As you can see, one has to "wing it" at an aircraft show. Tally-ho, and thankx for coming by.

definitly a special pov in this two "wingshots", Harry, the upper one is my fav for today because of the counterpoint of this one screw in the right corner...smile

Today you are a wingman! I love the POV on both. Talk about everything being right...you know the litany:) Focus, sharpness, etc. Think I'll keep quiet and just add it to my favorites.

Great pov. Nice details of the many rivet. The paint is so polished we can see the reflection of the canopy.

The first one is my fav here. I like the way the rivets shine white in the distance and the stronger reflections. Beautiful captures!

Takes me back to when my brother bought an old Harvard and I would up towing it behind my dad's car along a major street in Edmonton. I had a utility trailer behind the 1957 Pontiac, and the Harvard tail secured in it with the wings removed and tied alongside, towing the Harvard backwards, so it was car-trailer-Harvard. It was quite a sight in the side mirrors and caused a bit of a stir along the street.

Oee - I like this s lot! The POV is perfect Harry and if I had time, I would have counted those rivets! A bit scary to see to see what is holding everything together up at 10000 ft!!! Hmmm - makes me like flying even less! LOL...

well, being new to photography, I'm still unaware of the litany bill speaks of, but he knows I'm sure as do you. (I just mess with every setting I can get on my point & shoot, and pray alot! I got blurs and oversaturated shots and shots that would scare most large suns...) Anyway, these two shots are truly riveting, I mean in the viewers' sense: You captured not only the wonderful sheen of the wings, but the reflections as well (of the fuselage) and the bottom shot shows us more of that portion of the wing where the light reflects (near the bottom of the shot) so the bottom shot brings us closer to the light on this beast. Also, it's amazing that, from your angle, we see insignia on the wing, yet it could be reflections as well from the way you caught it. A very fine & radiant duo, with real reverence for the beast itself, and like bill, this goes in my favs. (And how in the world you get shots like this I don't know! In addition to the heat---partly I assume from the sun beating off this metal---you'd have to get right on top of the wing and lean over &....never mind. I'm just glad I'm not doing it!)

Wow!!! Wow. These are fantastic, Harry! I love the close-in pov, the reflections, the sharp detail. This is riveting, indeed!
