Description
this is a bridge designed and being built in Italy.it crosses the third worst polluted river in Texas.no surprise that Houston ship channel is #1. it is a continuation of Woodall Expressway and goes to an industrial area that is on it's last leg and probably responsible for a good part of the pollution. a former lead smelter caused a massive clean up of many blocks of land and attributed to poisoning of many children

Interesting construction scene. Sad info about the river though. Great photo about how destructive man can be to his environment.

Wow, quite a story. This sounds like a bridge too far:) Fine photo to illustrate your point.

well, seems a bridge to no where is in style these days ;) rankles me when i hear about pollution like you described...the people responsible for this behavior should be treated as criminals and sent to jail for a very long time--put into a chain gang to clean up the mess they created...ok, off my soap box ;) very interesting capture though...

Interesting! Kind of like an Erector set.

'They' seem to do this sort of thing all over the world as this looks like some of ours. Where have the beautiful bridges gone?
anahata.c
whew...you captured it as a big structure with noplace to go, even though it's still being built. It seems all very drowsy, which accentuates the feeling of the uselessness of the area & its impending doom. Some industrial landscapes broadcast 'end of the world' in a very bleached, hazy way: This is one of those landscapes, and you caught that very feeling, a place you'd like to avoid more because it looks so lifeless than because its obvious danger. The bridge comes to symbolize futility, even though it's being built. A bleak drowsy vision of industrial America. Very fine work.

Great documentary Richard!

One hopes that cleanup of this area will happen soon. It's a crime to allow such pollution to remain untouched. As was mentioned, an excellent piece of photojournalism.
