Description

The steamy, hot water combined with the earth's minerals create nature's palette of colors. On the right side is an odd formation called Devil's Thumb. It is the only black hump I remember seeing in acres of white, yellow and orange landscape. The colors change with the temperature of the rising water and the minerals the water brings to the surface. It hardens while it trickles down the slopes. Some years it dries up and flows from a completely different crevice. Thanks for visiting and TGIF. Blessings ~ Jodie

My son has been here several times and I've seen his fotos of this same place--it's got that surreal, amazing look that's simply beautiful!!

Hi Jodie...I see you ordered up a nice blue sky to offset all those rich earthtones. Mighty fine:)

once again, your detail is stunning without (in any way) taking over the shot, a balance found over & over in your gallery. The mineral spill is a carpet of beautiful light, line & texture. As with all your work, full size is a must; your clarity is constant throughout the spill, there isn't a shift of focus; and--hard to verbalize this--the natural light's never pushed away by the clarity but is in natural interaction with it. Thus physical atmosphere is once again present everywhere. This is one of the subtleties of your nature shots which continue to make them beautiful. Your composition flows from right to left to my eye, (in a swooping downwards motion) and to me it's like the flow of lava. It's so alive. The thumb is balanced by open sky on the other end. And the trees, even at midground they have a certain shimmer; and the rust colored one is a beautiful. This big spill moves like an oil painting, it's a big sensual soupy vision, the rock almost shines in spots, and full-size it all sings. It's just beautiful, Jodie; the place itself is beautiful, yes, but you gave it to us as an offering, and the offering is just splendid. More beauty from you...another in this continuing radiant series...

What the devil? Really a cool capture of this lovely striated scene, Jodie. Love the various patterns and textures, plus the lighting that brings it to full bore. And, with all the car collages I've been putting up lately, I'm surprised to see you missing from the commentors.

How alien! Of course I'd see that first! I love alien environments and well...hot springs always produce some of the most intriguing geological features. I love the colors and the way everything seems to flow even though it's now solid, for the most part. The only other place I've seen with as much wonder is a place in Albania called Butrinti...I haven't been there and actually have no interest, but THIS spot is right up my alley and closer to where I currently live. I love the whole vibe of this picture and I will be commenting on others in your gallery soon. I really MUST catch up!
