I am 58 years young, live in Johannesburg, South Africa and I'm a true product of my continent. I love the bush, the animals, sunshine, sunsets - oh well, anything to do with nature. I am unmarried and have three sons - 37, 33 and 30 respectively and three granddaugters aged 12, 6 and 4 respectively and obviously the light of my life! Photography has always been a passion and I have loved it since I can remember. I was still using a SLR camera and only switched to digital only in late 2007! My other passion is travel and I have been lucky enough to have travelled fairly widely. There are however still many, many places I would love to visit "one day." I am truly an amateur photographer and do it merely as a hobby. So please be gentle when you comment on my work. :-) Thank you Piet, my dear friend, for convincing me to place my work on Renderosity. You owe me one! Hugs, Carin xx

Help! Where is the plank to protect the wheel?! Hope you had a good braai too! Always was my Dad's portable braai... Clive

Oh, I know that feeling too...at times, when I feel like this...popping District 9 in the DVD player really helps...but only at the point long after the protagonist discovers that alien weapons respond to him; by that time, a few well-deserved explosions and butt-kickings take place. As for this image, it's deliciously surreal. It isn't unusual to see garden waste burned in a wheelbarrow, but at the same time, it's such an odd image! Of course I'm a wee bit of a pyromaniac and so I'd see open flames and smile with glee...as a kid I was always burning things up. On purpose. I never lost control of a flame, though I did set a toilet on fire once. Well...I set gasoline IN an outdoor toilet on fire just to see if I could shatter the porcelain. There was no cracked porcelain, but lowermost bowels of the toilet forced the flame into an impressive, though sputtering jet! That was nice. Okay, I've rambled on a bit and probably admitted to more pyropilia than is healthy in an artistic comment, but oh well. Great light and shadow in here, and you've captured the flame rather impressively. Had I been there, I'd have probably found a way to spray accelerant into the flame just to keep it going...but of course that might also have formed a bit of a mushroom cloud which would have scared the living daylights out of your neighbors. Oh well...still, this is a beautiful shot, and a very, moody piece of work.

What a neat idea to burn it in a pushcart, Carin, and thus it gives its energy back to the world it came from and the ashes are good for new life...smile... nothing better than to get something straight again and to get rid of waste... take care, Carin, ..smile

I really like the blur on the flame. It gives it a feeling of motion as though it is alive. Some time relaxing in the pool with your favorite drink might help your spirits.

Outstanding capture Carin.

You know what this reminds me of? When my two girls were little, as soon as Mom and Dad would go out leaving them to their own devices (not done often), one or the other would carefully climb onto the kitchen cabinets, reach on tiptoes, and get the matches down from the top shelf of the way-up-there cabinets. Next they'd build a "little fire" in their metal trash can...in their bedroom...IN THE HOUSE! Well, they never burned the house down, they're all grown up now with their own toddlers. I'll bet they do something more than we were smart enough to do to protect our match supply! LOL. Know how you feel. Hope this image brings a smile. Don't let Kayla read this. He,he.

Quite an exciting pic! Like Chip, I am something of a pyrophile, but unfortunately the days of big bonfires are past. I've been in this house 60 years, and when they built a block of flats containing non-gardeners across the road, one of the occupants instantly started complaining. Such a pity. It's not all he complains about, nothing better to do! So sorry you feel so low.

If I attempted to burn off the waste around here, I'd probably burn the town down and be as infamous as Mrs. O'leary's cow! A feel good shot!
Faemike55

I noted to a few weeks later the wheel bow began to rust a lot.

Splendorific flame effects for sure in this keener than keen kapture, Carin! The contrasts are marvelous. Even the wheelbarrow looks awesome. And, like Chipka, I watched "District 9" on DVD a few nights ago. I didn't know there were that many aliens in South Africa. I mean, like millions!

Excellent flame shot, wow I wished I had known about this I would have asked to use it, but I have just finished creating flame by myself for my latest Dragon story - ahh well all a learning curve I guess. LOL Great shot Carin, hugs Jane xx

Ag Hun, jy weet Ek is hier vir jou enige tyd wat jy nodig het me. Ek het jou baie lief! >:D< This is a fantastic photograph! Well captured.

Very nice flames Carin. Strangely, here in Oz, if you are on fire then things are going great but from reading the comments here it looks like it means the opposite to many people. Either way, you already know what the past has been but the future is still an adventure to look forward to though sometimes only once we have let some of the past go.

VERY BEAUTIFUL!

Your wheelbarrow looks rougher than mine.
npauling
These flames look so alive in this capture but I fear that the wheelbarrow will have a hole in it now. I reckon those handles on the barrow look very sexy. Mine only has very straight ones.
