Description

Captured today, 1/19/10, at 7:10 AM, approximately one-third of a mile from my heady haven, and exactly four hours before it began to rain big time, bringing much needed relief from our extended drought. Tally-ho, and thankx for dropping in.

Beautiful sky with the palms set against it. I'm glad you've gotten the rain you needed. I take it you might be in Australia? I have a friend in Adelaide who said they are having water bans because of the drought.

Silhouettes and trees, two of my favorite things:-) Beautiful sunrise, the palms give the feel of a nodding head just beginning to waken. Super capture Harry!

I knew that Lynn would love this, and I see others did too. It's a beautiful silhouette of two palms, blackened by early morning light with just enough detail to look alive; and with tads of life & city stuff on the bottom, to root us. And of course the early dawn sky. (I've been shooting early skies of late, and I learned very quickly how impossible they are: In addition to their difficult light, they change, the little ____s! Just when you get it right, the light changes and you want to scream, "do you mind????" Note to sun: Dawn should last 6 hours, for photographers.) Anyway, it's lovely how you got the sun at the horizon, and a beautiful slate blue at top---the sky's doing its metamorphosis for you. And it's fun to see a little bit of the city's signs at bottom. In case you didn't know, "Silhouette" was named after a guy (his last name) who did cutouts, and therefore got an effect named after him. But he probably had no idea how far photography would take his effect. I find silhouettes very difficult because they're just a few tones. This is a fine shot because you made the most of a few tones (in the trees), while the rest is simple & beautiful. Another fine shot from your neighborhood.
