Description

The J. Paul Getty Museum courtyard contained many works of art. This one has great details, if you care to ZOOM. I do not know what happened to his spear. Maybe 6 feet (183cm) tall. I see warrior women and I think of Athena, the gray-eyed goddess of war and hunting and all sorts of fun stuff...she was quite the tomboy you know and an oddity in the ancient Greek world for her gray eyes: a distinctly recessive trait that had to leave a bunch of dominant-traited brown-eyed folk rather stunned. This is a gorgeous shot, and I love the play of light and texture. There are shadows here, but they're more implied than seen and the colors are nicely subtle. Great work.
