Description
This image is dedicated to Roxy (brewgirlca). She is one of the sweetest ladies I know, and she has been my friend for a long time. She uses the programs (Poser-7, photoshop CS4 and PSPX2) and is a very talented lady. Roxy brings stories to life in her art. My personal favorites are the stories of Ishtar, which are both beautiful and exciting when told by her. A trip in her gallery is like a journey through time, and it is a trip you should make soon. You will soon discover she has the talent to make any vision come to life, just as she did in the story she told to me. This story shows what great character she has, and that Roxy can do anything she desires because her will is so strong.
Look Mom, No Wheels (For brewgirlca): Roxy grew up in a small town, so the only way to get around was by bike. All the kids had training wheels on their bikes, but eventually the other kid’s dads and older brothers taught them how to ride. All too soon Roxy became the only kid with training wheels and of course that was unacceptable! It meant being left out of the gang rides. Roxy asked her Dad to help her learn, but he worked very long hours and was often on the road for many days at a time; his home life time with her was always short. So if she was gonna learn to ride a bike she would have to do it herself. So one day she got a pair of pliers from her Dad’s toolbox and took off the training wheels herself. She set the bike up against the wall in the garage, and climbed on the seat. Then in one swift motion she pushed off the wall but soon fell down. she got up, did it again and fell down once more. This happened many times, but after a while she glided a few feet before falling. Over and over she tried and her mom told her to stop. She would not quit no matter how much it hurt. Failure was not possible! Finally she could glide all the way to the road! But, oh my, then she had to make a turn. And you know what happened… yep, she fell down.
Finally, it happened, she glided down the driveway, turned- without falling- peddled a few strokes… and to her delight realized she was at long last riding her bike without those silly training wheels! Her dog Candace saw Roxy gliding down the street and began to follow her barking all the way, almost as if she was cheering her on. Her Mom heard the noise and ran outside to see what was going on. She saw Roxy and Candace going down the street and was so proud of her daughter. At last Roxy could once more be a part of the gang. Even more important, that day Roxy learned if she tried hard enough and believed in herself she could make her dreams come true.

Wonderful story! I remember when I finally learned how to ride a bike. Like Roxy, I was a late learner and felt left out - and put down. Then one day, a "friend" played a "nasty" trick on me. He got me on his bike (which I could not stay up on), my friend would hold the bike frame as I peddled. Of coarse his design was to see me publicly fall over when he let go - something my fiend swore he would not do (ala. Lucy vs. Charlie Brown). Well, I had the last laugh on him as I continued to ride well after he let go. I was just as startled about the whole matter as he was. Of coarse, I was now I was making off with his expensive bike under rather uncontrolled circumstances. And because I didn't know how to stop the stupid thing, I eventually ran it into a tree - ouch!

Brings back memories... I remember when I learned to ride a bike :) I finally borrowed a neighbour's bike because it was much smaller and easier to keep my balance and eventually I went for the normal size bike. Before that, I was riding with my oldest sister sitting on the saddle to help me with balance lol Sweet image :) Ok, cute ;) You won't sleep if I don't also say cute :P

Lovely to see a posting from you and to hear another lovely story. I love how you have done this with the little dog egging her on to try harder. I love Roxy's happy expression and her great outfit. A beautiful render. I learnt to ride a bike by falling off too so I can relate to this story.

Wow Dave you did an outstanding and delightful image. I will long cherish this special gift. I love the expression you have given me; that is so much how I remember the moment. And I also notice that somehow you convey that there is still a bit of trepidation in the pedaling. I also notice that you put mountains in the background and that is perfect for I grew up in a small town where the mtns were just visible in the distance... and I think I know where you got that idea... that is very cunning of you:-) My to have grown up in such a mansion.. my family home was way more humble. I said my dad worked long hours, not that he was rich! Haha. I am glad to see this story brought back happy memories for other people. I think learning to ride is one of the key events in most peoples lives as it gives them their first taste of being mobile. Thanks for this and especially since I know it was made under rather trying circumstances. I wish you luck especially in the upcoming days.
