I am 58 years young, live in Johannesburg, South Africa and I'm a true product of my continent. I love the bush, the animals, sunshine, sunsets - oh well, anything to do with nature. I am unmarried and have three sons - 37, 33 and 30 respectively and three granddaugters aged 12, 6 and 4 respectively and obviously the light of my life! Photography has always been a passion and I have loved it since I can remember. I was still using a SLR camera and only switched to digital only in late 2007! My other passion is travel and I have been lucky enough to have travelled fairly widely. There are however still many, many places I would love to visit "one day." I am truly an amateur photographer and do it merely as a hobby. So please be gentle when you comment on my work. :-) Thank you Piet, my dear friend, for convincing me to place my work on Renderosity. You owe me one! Hugs, Carin xx

I wish they would do something like this with our two in Pinelands. They are also unused. Great capture of the place, Clive

I wonder why we haven't done the same thing with our twin towers. They'd be a lot easier to look at! Outstanding shot!

What a great idea! The mural is fabulous, and the advertisement for the bank is nicely simple and engaging. I'm glad you thought to shoot these! Excellent image.

That type of power was supposed to be the future. They marketed it as safe, clean and efficient. It was none of the listed. Turning them into something useful is a really good idea. great shot.

Wonderful image - we don't expect to see the colors and artistry on these towers. Very nice.

Turn left at the towers--you'll never get lost if you live anywhere near these!! Great foto, Carin, and cherish those memories. Those times were real and good and that will never change!!

cool idea to paint them but would it not be better to remove the two big ugly things. we dont have any here in Ireland I am glad to say. but it dose not take away from your photo that in it self is so well taken and crisp in color.

Very nice. Quite a contrast between the two but it was smart thinking to save them for this purpose. I am always gobsmacked by your skies in SA:)

Super clarity, multicolors and contrast in this shot of this section of Saoweto, the acronym for "South Western Townships," Carin. I bet you didn't know I knew that. The station looks like it was of a nuclear nature. Any knowledge about that?

What a great idea. I love the one on the right as it has such a lot of vitality. A lovely capture.

Excelent capture what makes up your part of the world.

This is surreal and well...I happen to really like cooling towers. When I lived in Dortmund, my favorite part of that small city was the power plant in the middle of it along with it's still-working cooling tower! These are deliciously surreal...you don't often find GOOD looking cooling towers looming above the landscape with brilliant colors on their flanks. This is wonderful work, and yet another astonishing favorite. When I'm situated in the Slavic world, I'm definitely making making a journey south! It is a moral imperative!

Colorful, creative, lively and a lot more hopeful than the pictures I saw 35 years ago. This is a wonderful picture. I hope there has been progress to match the image.
