Description

(Bug Comic) It's May of 2402 and Bryan has been just working, going to class, and being a TA for Biology 101. On this Friday night he'd just finished grading a pile of finals, including one written in pink pen and decorated with hearts. Since the perp had signed her name, he handed Trish's (Date no.12 in "The Year of Dating Stupidly") test over the other TA to grade, and went home, to find a note from Leo (Date #1)asking him to go to a hockey game. Since Bryan didn't feel like trying to watch a hockey game while swatting Leo off between quarters, he went to the lamest club he knew, the Toona Fish, which had 2 things to recommend it--it was across from the University, and Leo wouldn't be caught dead there. The headliner was indeed bad, so Bryan went to the bar to order a ginger ale and go home, and the only other guy at the bar looked like he was checking Bryan out. In fact, he was--he was making a checklist: --no glasses, so corneas should be fine --ordered ginger ale, probably not a heavy drinker, good liver, --good general health, shiny hair. In other words, an ideal donor. Camo guy would like to get a look at his teeth too. So the guy in camo pants bought Bryan a beer, and pushed it over to him, putting his palm over the top of the glass to let some of the contents of the tiny bottle in his other hand run around the rim. Camo guy's left palm is numb now, but he's right-handed so it doesn't matter. Bryan can't quite figure this guy out, but he's telling some great stories about Alaska and hunting there, so Bryan is willing to listen. Bryan's not really a beer drinker,though, and the beer is a lot more bitter than he remembered, so he's trying to figure out how to dump out the rest of it without looking rude.

the hair on the new guy is absolutely phenomenal. i like the way we can see the empty vial, but Bryan can't. and the other guy is Aer, right? not Mer? does the pin he's wearing have any significance? the detail on the bottles is impressive. i like the very feel the wood decor creates; it fits a bar perfectly. i think the one thing that strikes me as off is the area behind the bar being too light some how. especially the inset for the bottles. in general, the environment lighting confuses me a bit (where the lights are supposed to be). but the light on the guys is perfect and interesting. absolutely great work on the clothes. i just love what you did with Bryan's pants, and the camo pants impress me. overall, this is a perfect example of your painting skills.

Sounds like this story ends with your victim waking up in a bathtub full of ice, with a note pinned on his chest to call an ambulance when he came 'round. Spooky! Nice work on your characters and rendering.

Looks like Camo guy is a brother the the dude in the Razor Rider Diner. The posing is very natural, showing a relaxed conversation... although from the story we know there are actually tense undercurrents. The rim lighting helps to highlight the characters from the bar. Nicely done two person interplay.
