Hi, I'm Marilyn. Â I've been posting here on RR for a few years now and thought it was time to update my profile. Â It's been wonderful learning so much from the amazingly talented people here. Â I've had the chance to meet many in person and some have become great and good friends. Â Starting with a Kodak Brownie camera when I was about 7 or 8, moving up to Instamatics, Polaroids, then the Pentax K1000 that really got me on the way, I've been looking at the world thru a lens for a long time. Â Got the bug honestly; my dad was a photographer and gave me the gene!! Â Digital changed the world and I jumped in with both feet. Â You would've gone thru 100's of rolls of film in one day the way we can shoot and delete all day long. Â Progess...it can be awesome sometimes.
At any rate, RR rocks, the talent is over the top and I'm just gonna keep on shooting!!
Thanks for looking and keep those cameras rollin'!!
peace.....marilyn

Not a swimming beach, then! Such great colours in your pic, it rather adds to the wildness.

Very wild water but oh so beautiful... I love the ocean's moods! I bet that same waters can be as calm as anything! Wonderful image Marilyn!

Now those look like some serious waves, and you're still looking for bigger ones? Yikes... Great POV!

So just how big are those waves? They DO look like monsters. Very dramatic, frothy, white, beer-foam monsters. Hmmm...beer...oh never mind! I love the balance of this shot, the way those waves dominate one side and are all frothy and turbulent like a bunch of kids with Attention Deficit Disorder all screaming and clamoring for attention, then on the right, the beach itself is calm and smooth and unruffled. There's a great dramatic tension there, rather like something Tennessee Williams would have tried to write if he wasn't so interested in being so over the top and like a self-parody at times. Hmmm...what's up with me today, I made one comment that went from beer to ADD to Tennessee Williams, and it's all because I like a photo! Well...I suspect that's a sign of good work since it got my mind to wandering in all sorts of unexpected directions. And well...this IS great work!

Breathtaking work! I love beaches like this - the power of the sea is spectacular.

Now even I don't fancy a swim in there! That's one angry ocean.....

Wow, such power. I love the colors... such a stark contrast between earth and water as Chip so deftly put it. Great POV as well. Excellent shot!
goodoleboy
Stark contrast and tons of ocean wave froth on display in this fine foto, Marilyn!

Lake Michigan gets some big waves, and some even crash up on Lake Shore Drive, but these are like the giant skyscrapers of waves! WOW! How close did you get to catch this shot? Okay, not close, I know, but still! This is amazing. I really like the composition, it's all frothy and white on one side and still and sandy on the other. Really, really nice.

stunning shot !

Fantastic shot! The composition is wonderful. I, too, appreciate the frothing wildness in contrast to the stark sand. Excellent work!

Thanks for this view Marilyn...I can hear the sound and feel the undertow pulling me out to sea...if you don't get anymore comments from me you'll know what happened:) I really like this shot!

Gorgeous photo Mariln! I can almost hear those waves! I spent some time at Imperial Beach and I remember well the loud crack, almost like a rifle shot, as the waves hit the shore. I like the POV of this!
