Hi, I'm Marilyn. Â I've been posting here on RR for a few years now and thought it was time to update my profile. Â It's been wonderful learning so much from the amazingly talented people here. Â I've had the chance to meet many in person and some have become great and good friends. Â Starting with a Kodak Brownie camera when I was about 7 or 8, moving up to Instamatics, Polaroids, then the Pentax K1000 that really got me on the way, I've been looking at the world thru a lens for a long time. Â Got the bug honestly; my dad was a photographer and gave me the gene!! Â Digital changed the world and I jumped in with both feet. Â You would've gone thru 100's of rolls of film in one day the way we can shoot and delete all day long. Â Progess...it can be awesome sometimes.
At any rate, RR rocks, the talent is over the top and I'm just gonna keep on shooting!!
Thanks for looking and keep those cameras rollin'!!
peace.....marilyn

LMAO... I'm about as knowledgable as blinkings... Super shiny engine though!!! :))

It's quite obvious that your problem is simple...blinkings put his finger right on it, and you should note his excellent and accurate use of technical jargon; people go to school to learn that! What a great shot. Its kind of a slightly different direction for you, but not surprising...you find all sorts of stuff to photograph, and well...you found a beauty here. What shapes and colors! I like engines, but usually the rusty and grotty kind with gunk and stuff flaking off. THIS is a pristine beauty even if it makes an odd knocking noise. Hopefully the knocks aren't anything...or maybe your something or other needs its thingamajig reattached to the whatchamacallit.

Great pic! For some reason it recalls an incident some years ago when we were in the pub where the folk club met. Someone's wife arrived late, rather flushed, and apologised to her husband, saying a man in a car outside had called her over and exposed himself to her. Her husband, outraged, called the police, and the constable, slightly embarrassed said "I have to ask you, Madam, if he had an erection." "No", she replied, " I think it was a Ford Cortina".

One heck of an engine, nicely done!

Fabulous shot of a flathead V8 the hot rodders favourite oldie. That funny noise, could be because its a side valve engine and they do sound different and my guess would be that it's running open headers, so you can hear each cylinder firing. Either way it's a fine shot of some automotive art.

Fine clarity, reflectivity and a lot of stark contrast in this capture of the pristine engine, Maz.

WOW! That's one sexy motor! 10,000 horsepower engine eats small town. Film at eleven. No, really, that's one sexy motor. It's so detailed. Great color and interesting little doodads. Those spark-plug leads look almost organic, like they were grown there. I love the chrome gleam and the red...it's intense. Another great shot. I love it when I get the chance to catch up and actually see car stuff too!
