Description

January, my neighborhood. (Please zoom.) * * *
I've been called away again & barely had a connection. I never post when I can't comment (it feels like 'cheating' to me), but some of you said I should post at least a little while I'm gone, so I'm posting to tell you that I miss sitting with your wonderful art & with everything you share each day. All I can say is, I'll be back when everything is normal again & I'll sit with your work once more. I miss this place a lot when I'm gone, believe me...
Thanks for your comments, and it's fine if you leave nothing, too. Just enjoy, the image is for you... Peace, Mark

A friendly looking house, welcoming and not overdone. And you caught it on a sunny day--which makes it all the more beautiful. I love the wooden door, it warms up the whole house!!

Mark, this is such a beautiful shot. It got rich colors and a fine POV and clear and iron fence and snow and sun. It is a wonderful capture indeed. I love it.

These are such elegant decorations, especially in comparison to the appalling tacky blow up Santas and all that c*** that so many folk have here. There is a great feeling of welcome to this entrance to what seens a rather splendid home, and you have made an excellent photo.

I for one am thrilled to see you post Mark and while I can understand you feeling hesitant to post unless you can comment I do so enjoy seeing your work. This photo is one that struck me right the moment I saw it as it seems to almost symbolize the image I have in my mind of a perfect holiday season. The large wooden door give one the impression of the warmth inside while the beautiful entry way leading to it is highlighted by green plants. The snow swept off to the side but still in sight adds to the beauty here.

So elegant with an old world feel to it. I love the contrast of the gray and the warm colors, and the black wrought iron is gorgeous. Wonderful lighting, and I love how the steps hint at snow. I hope everything is OK. Have a safe journey.

Extremely beautiful shot Mark, I can visualize people totally happy coming in and out the door, it has a very loved feel to it. The decorations are still lovely and add warmth to the image. I see the bare branches of a tree in the super reflection and the stone work is really inviting. I sometimes feel very cold about stone work but not with this one. Once again there is that awesome wrought iron that really ties things together for me. Thank you for sharing it, and please post whether you can comment or not, its very comforting to know when you have been here.

Gorgeous photo. Looks like a set of steps that leads a visitor into a big hallway...with a huge staircase and a highly polished bannister...good for sliding down when you are ten:) And a drawing room off to one side...probably with a big heavy pocket door that glides into the wall to admit you and closes quickly to keep the heat from the fireplace in. Your photo evokes all kinds of memories of these lovely, stately homes for me. Well done Mark...hope your "called away" journey is successful.

Lots and lots going on here, object and architecture-wise, Mark, so where do I start? Actually, I can't because all of this ambiance is unfamiliar to me. All I can say is a fine POV, clarity, lighting and textural effects in effect, and a plethora of repetition (steps, iron fence, brick, columns).

Mark I just want to climb up those steps and knock on that door, because I sense whoever lives there is a kind and caring soul, you took an excellent shot of this and perfect pov. I shall miss you and right now am listening to some classical piano music, the music you love so much. I wish you well and come back safe to us all, and never feel bad if you cannot comment it really is okay, nobody expects that you should do if you just don't have the time. take care hugs Jane xx

Oh wow. This is fantastic, Mark. I love the division of space ... window/door/stairs ... it's balanced, but far from static. I keep seeing more and more in it the longer I look. Wow!

This is a very welcoming doorway even with the snow. You have captured that essence so well. I too miss this site when I'm away and can't wait to get back to it.

I am glad to see a post from you! I hope all is well. This is such a beautiful place and image! Lovely colors and shading! This has such an air of warmth and welcoming from the cold. Winter is beautifully evident in the cold grey stone, the evergreen garland and the snow. But the light and the warm browns of the door, tell of the warmth inside. I love how the light turns the walls around it pink adding to the warm glow of the doorway. Beautiful reflections in the windows and the balls on the gate. Lovely image!

I simply love the neighborhood you live in. Such beautiful architecture, there simply isn't anything like this built today. I doubt anyone could afford to build something like this. Such a wecoming warm feel despite the cold and the snow .. I'm glad you are posting still, you are missed so much, and this makes up a bit for it, grins.
