Description

1929 Boeing Model 80A-1 in "The Museum of Flight", Seattle, Washington. This tri-motor aircraft along with the Fokker and Ford Tri-Motors were the first aircraft in the late 1920s to concentrate on carrying passengers rather than mail or cargo. Hence the Boeing Model 80A-1 earned the nickname, "Pioneer Pullman of the Air". This is the last remaining Boeing 80A-1 in the world. It was recovered from a dump in Alaska in 1960, brought to Seattle and completely restored to its' original condition. auntietk's influence is showing here. Notice the partial view...Hey, I'm getting the idea. LOL. Bill:) Aircraft Fact Sheet: Click Here "Seattle Sun Break" thumb_2010074.jpg

Ha - you are a good student Bill!!! LOL... Great image of this ancient Boeing... Funny, I probably would have felt much safer flying in one of them than in the new jets.. :)

Great shot Bill. I don't know if I would call it a 'good looking' plane. Hmmm? I don't know what to say...it's interesting though.

Wonderful! The sound and slow speed - I love sitting at the window and watching the earth go by. This would be a treat! Great crop, Clive

Learning some new tricks can be so cool...as long as your having fun with it...and it looks like you sure are! Excellent shot. Though, these pipes on the front here instantly remind me of the old hooker headers we used to put on our 4X4's. lol Great shot!

That's just the coolest plane in person, isn't it? I couldn't stay away from it! I've got a bunch of close-in shots of the engine and cowling somewhere around here ... it was such a compelling view! Great work on this image. Very nicely done!

Oh wow. Yes, nice close-up of the "front office." But special thanks for the url, which shows it's a biplane with three rudders. Never would have guessed.

I didn't know Boeing made this type of aircraft. I thought this was a Ford tri-motor when I first saw it. Kind of reminds me of the Junkers Ju 52 transport of WWII. And what is with the those shiny external exhaust pipes leading from the engine? In any case, great POV of that section contrasted against the massive ceiling gridwork, Bill.

This is a great capture of this plane. It has a very agressive look to it I reckon and ready for what the air throws at it.

Ah, the glory of the partial view...what really proves you got the partial view is when you do the auntietk giggle. If you do that, you've mastered the partial view! Now aside from all of that, what I really like about this is the fusion of influences...you have the spinny-thing on the nose and the partial view...both are working in perfect fusion, and well...what's really deliciously odd is the way in which this obvious plane looks...well...um...aquatic! No...seriously...this looks like an underwater construction...it's weird, in a good way. I see gills and heat-exchange duct-work and a spinny-thing that probably diffuses defensive ink in the presence of larger predators with tentacles and sharp beaks. Yes...predatory cephalopods have beaks! Who'd have thunk it? At any rate, I love this photo. It's amazingly detailed and yeah, you do the partial view thing incredibly well. That's a secret to good writing as well...don't reveal everything leave your audience guessing and going...yeah, but what about...? This rocks.

It's a fine detail view, Bill of a very historic plane. Like a lot of museums, many of the aircraft are so close together that it is very difficult to get a full view.
