Description

A Scientist’s Journal Log from the Planet Menelwen (Mehn-ell-wehn) Date: June 30th 2692 Today was a gorgeous day on the planet’s surface. The smell of the newly bloomed roses we transplanted from Earth fills the air. It attracts many species of the native insects. We ran across a few of the beautiful winged variety today. We have not yet named this species. I have caught two and put them in a holding tank for farther study. It is now 10pm currently here. The sun set 2 hours ago and the lab is dark. I noticed a array of light coming from the tank. I grabbed my camera and mini tripod. I set up for the shot and again turned the lights off. These insects glow at night. They are so beautiful. After taking several shots of them I decided this is the best of out of all of them, and taped it to the adjacent page. By Eäryendë Maranwethiel (Ay-are-yehn-day Mar-ahn-wehth-ee-ell) The image was made in Apo, and post worked in Photoscape. Romping the galleries a bit today and tomorrow. Much love and peace, Cheri

Will they still be using cameras and tripods in 2692? Let's hope that our earth is still around by then. Stellar image and postwork of the lovely critter, which is the result of multiple evolutionary mutations, in this composition, Cheri!

I love the tale: science fictional and/or fantasy journals always intrigue me. I guess its from reading all of those Dune novels with epitaphs before each chapter--most were from the journals of Muad'Dib or Princess Irulan, or some Bene Gesseritt "witch." They were always so intriguing, and though you're not talking about melange, The Spacing Guild, or some interstellar Jihad, you're touching on "real life" experiences in "that other place." And to top it off, you post it with something amazing. It looks like some kind of deep-sea creature, which is, in and of itself very alien. This is really marvelous work and I love the image AND writing, but the image...wow! VERY nice!
