Description

I made this with a bunch of photos what were sent to me from my family. The top picture is the fire station, my dad and two brothers started at as volunteers. My dad retired from there as captain. Below him are my two brothers and their trucks. Next to my dad is my nephew, Next to him his dad, my Big Brother, the oldest. Below my nephew is another picture of my older big brother, the same one who is wearing the black shirt by his truck, on a fire call and is now assistant chief. The bottom right is my oldest brother training my nephew. I wasn't going to post this because the only picture I took myself was the one of my dad, but after site mailing with someone. they said I should post it under snap shots. I still wasn't, because it is not the best collage I have ever done, but while in the phone with clbsmiley, I heard a really big thug. I thought one of our cars rolled into the house. After checking in back, everything was fine. So I came back and sat down for a bit.( I took the day off to relax by the way. I have three weeks of vacation this year and decided a few weeks ago I was taking today off and put in for it.) Anyway back to this. I heard the mailman on the porch and decided to get the mail, I also heard what I thought was just work trucks fixing something over by the railway crossing again. It was the fire department. They were cutting one of my neighbors out of their car. The thug I heard was a really big accident. His girl friend, who was also in the car told me they were fighting and he reved out of the driveway and never looked. I should say ex-girl friend now. He was hit by a car coming down the road that he pulled out in front of. She had a really bad bump on the side of her head and was really shaken up. The one of the paramedics came over and told her they were taking her just to be checked out. I couldn't tell how bad everyone was hurt, but they took all three and towed the cars. I thought ' this was a sign.' this is for all those who on a daily basis risk their lives to save others. Thank you for your dedication and service. The pictures were all taken by family members. My step mom took the one of the old fire department back in the late 70's when she too was on the fire department. She avoids cameras at all cost, so I don't have a picture of her in her gear. I am working on just getting a sneak photo of her all together. I took the picture of my dad and the rest were all taken by my brothers and nephew. My oldest is the one we all call big brother, for lots of reasons. I am so very proud of them all. Much love and peace, Cheri

Cheri's family has a great tradition of serving others, generations long now too! we are so very proud of them, and grateful for all they do,and all of those who serve the public. These people put their life on the line for us everyday that they go to work, and more often than not, are only appreciated when it's our own or someone close to us, gets their help and assistance. Nice work sweetie, your family is filled with hero's!!!!

Oh, never doubt the validity of posting something like this. It's a wonderful glimpse into lives that some of us know only from a slight distance, and it's a great peek into the deeper parts. I really like the sensitivity of this piece; it has a wonderful "historical" perspective in that you've captured something that's still current, but it's recorded and there for people everywhere to see. This is great and touching work.
