Hi, My name is Bill and I am updating my homepage to reflect a wonderful event in my life...marriage, September 18, 2010, to my best friend Tara...known to many of you as auntietk here on Renderosity.
We "met" shortly after I joined Renderosity in August 2008. We share a love for photography and indeed all types of art.
We live north of Seattle and enjoy getting to share photographic excursions and information with other Renderositians ( is "Renderositians" even a word? ). LOL
As for me, it seems like I've been taking pictures all my life but I didn't get serious enough to purchase my first Digital Single Lens Reflex (DSLR) camera until May 2008. In May 2009 I upgraded from an Olympus E-510 to an Olympus E-30 with a wide variety of lenses.
My subject areas of interest include absolutely everything but with a frequent return to airplanes, cars, tanks, etc., ...or as Tara says, machines that make lots of noise;-)
If you are curious, I am pictured above in a Grumman Corsair on a taxiway of the Kansas City Downtown Airport. I used to fly and train others to fly airplanes. That will explain my frequent forays into the world of aviation. Last but by no means least, thanks to Pannyhb for introducing me to Renderosity. The moment I saw it I was hooked.
Fine print: Yes, the photo above is a photo manipulation:-)

How wonderful to be in the right place at the right time to see inside this old beauty. The airlines have come a long way haven't they. Makes you wonder what we will be riding in, in another 50 years. A super collage.

Oh, Man! That's just tooooo cool! What a great opportunity, and you got some great photos, Bill! A few years ago, our camera club got a wondeful private tour of the TWA museum and the beautiful restored Connie at the downtown Kansas City airport. I'll have to dig those photos out and post a couple.

Well, as I often say, I'd rather be lucky than good, which was the situation you encountered by being given the after hours royal tour in and around the venerable aircraft, Bill. Fine and colorful collage depicting the ins and outs of the ship: the cockpit, cabin, nose, etc.

WOW ! You were so lucky beeing the last persons in the day. You gor mighty beautiful shots.

Yup. There is one in the Smithsonian. Despite it was a ground breaking aircraft they were contracted to a single airline while Douglas models were open for anybody who wanted an airline aircraft. Something like the difference between Betamax and VHS. Of course Boeing recovered and made some of the most famous aircraft flying.

Great captures and info.

Dude! You lucky ........! What can I say... Just amazing, once in a lifetime shots! One thing... Does make you wonder why they are going to hang this airworthy beauty up from a ceiling, instead of showing it off around at shows! That is a shame! One other bit of good timing Bill... lol You know Shoo Shoo Baby.. The B-17 at Dayton, well its not going to be there for very much longer! Its going to Washington! Hows that! Great shots... Rob

The GOLDEN age ! ten seats? a private plane by todays standard.I wonder what a ticket cost back then.A great collage Bill, and testiment to time and place, as you say.I'm with Rob, why hang an airworthy plane? but I'm sure there is a good reason.

Nicely done collage; while groundbreaking in its time, it sure looks rough by today's standards. Not sure how I'd feel about luggage bumping around in those nets overhead when you hit turbulence!
auntietk
Oh man. This is like being there again, seeing these images! That was the best time. You did a fantastic job of showing off this gorgeous plane ... you got all the angles and really did it up right! Excellent collage, and thanks for the memories!
