Description

A male Anhinga with wings spread for drying. They fish underwater and need to dry their wings and replenish the oils in the feathers. They are about 35 inches (89cm) long with a wingspan of 45 inches (114cm). Taken at the Wakodahatchee Wetlands, February 19th. ZOOM is a must for wing details. Thanks for stopping by, taking a look and for all your previous comments and favs. Dana

This is a great capture, best viewed on full zoom. I love the details, especially the more down-like features that are all scraggly and "not so cute" as they're wet. Fantastic work as always.

They really are pretty birds, aren't they? And this guy could have dried his wings almost instantly here in southern NH last night with the almost hurricane force winds...parts of our town looks like a bomb has gone off! Trees through houses, trees crushing cars, wide spread power outages...I'd love to be sitting beside this guy in a tree in Florida, LOL!!

Wonderful! It's a beautiful bird and a brilliant pose for you. There's such variety at the wetlands - I should visit our local area and see what they have to offer.
