Description

Built during the Song Dynasty nearly a thousand years ago, this fortress stands as a testament of Chinese Technology which Europe later adapted. I intend to do many shots at this location, bringing the highlights to the Photography Gallery. This Engineering Marvel is nearly forgotten for the majesty and and popularity of the Forbidden City in Peking (modern Beijing). However, this site was originally chosen as a winter palace for the Emperor, and became the capital during the invasion and subsequent occupation of the Mongols. I shall try to show the crenelated walled parapet where archers fired from and Engineers poured vats of boiling liquids over the walls to defend against the invasion forces. European castles later borrowed these design features and incorporated them into their castles.
