A work in progress! Hi! My name is Melinda. I am happily married to the love of my life and we have a daughter who is in college. I live in Southern California and I am an amateur photographer. My husband bought me my Kodak P880 for Christmas in 2006. I looked at it and thought I'd never figure it out! I've only taken regular every day snapshots and never looked through the lens in a "creative" way. Then in March 2007 someone introduced me to Renderosity.  In May, I became brave and decided to upload my first photo... I haven't been able to put my camera down since! LOL. I still have a lot to learn, but I sure am having fun doing it. I have come a long way though. This time last year, I couldn't even put a photo on the computer! Now I have started to research DSLR cameras ... Who knows what the future brings! Update: I now have that DSLR :) Was the best Christmas (2008) gift!   I did the research and picked it out and Santa put it under the tree. It's a Canon Rebel Xsi .

I have a new DSLR, the Canon 7OD. A gift from my husband for Mother's Day. So much to explore!

A ten to eleven hour trip just to return and go inside a lighthouse? Not for me, my dear...I'll pass on that. Anyway, nice quasi silhouetted shot of the structures and foreground against the overcast sky, Melinda! And, the weather has been nice over the past week or so here in So. Calif.

LOTS of steep steps are evil! Even when you're in perfect physical shape, climbing steep grade steps is just pure...well...evil. It's worse if you have to climb steep-inclined spiral steps to...oh say...a lighthouse's light? Or an old European cathedral, built before elevators were even a glimmer of a concept in some eccentric inventor's mind...I mean, back in those days, the wheel was still a new enough concept to still be considered "cool, modern, and oh-so-with it!" I really like the structure of this lighthouse. It's a bit like an ancient ziggurat, only a wee bit skinnier. I love its positioning too. This is a wonderful shot! Lighthouses are always such a fascinating glimpse into a day when human culture (in general) had such richness and jobs that actually seem to touch on traditions and stuff like that...and yeah, lighthouses are still in use now, but they're largely automated and not really human friendly, which is a shame. I love this shot and the way it gets me to thinking of all sorts of stories.

Love that place! Thanks for sharing. This place bring back fond memories for me. When I had a chance to visit the lighthouse lil over 3 years ago I almost didn't leave the car to go see it! I must have lost my mind. :)
