Description

Well - seeing that I posted "Nothing" yesterday, I decided I better post "Something" today! *grin* This image was shot on the same trip as yesterday's post, just much earlier in the day! We stopped by this abandoned rosequartz mine about 15km from the coastline. (as the crow flies) I was gobsmacked! There are just these mountains of rosequartz just lying everywhere! Boulders, rocks and pebbles - all beautifully pink. It was quite a climb to the top of this quartz 'mountain' but it was so worth it. The view from there was spectacular. You can see a thin line of the Atlantic in the distance and the ever present fog bank of course! An experience that you will never really appreciate until you walk around on the stuff! Dana and Usanomad will appreciate this!! Enjoy guys, I actually thought of you when I walked around there! Thank you for your valued comments and favs on my "Nothing" of yesterday! Have a great weekend! Hugs Carin xx Oh - the black on the one rock is lichen! I captured a close-up which I will post later!

Fascinating rock formation, I quite share your emotion on seeing this jewel of nature. Your gorgeous capture definitely sets the mood for admiring Nature's gifts.

Wow! I have a big piece which weights about 3kg - well, I used to think it was big! Sharp too, slivers are like scalples. A stunning scene! Clive

Neat image Carin...I t looks like you didn't have a lot of competition for your POV. I'll bet it was very quiet there too:)

This is definitely "something"...Most beautiful photograph of Rose Quartz in nature I have ever seen. You have given justice to this lovely mineral. I do have quite big collection of Rose quartz and it is one of my most treasured stones, that is always blessing me with powerful loving energy. Accordingly to some beliefs, it is a excellent source for healing emotional "wounds". Thank You Carin for sharing such perfect beauty.

Oh, how freakin' spectacular is that? Raw, untamed rose quartz in its native habitat! I've never seen such huge hunks and well...WOW! I'm flabbergasted and I wasn't even there. Had I been, I'd have just explored, snapped pictures, pictures, and more pictures. This is gorgeous, and yeah...a bit otherworldly too. Nice!

WOW!!! You knew that I would like this shot. This is a breathtaking capture Carin. I love the POV and it’s gorgeous in ZOOM. (Drool) I have 44 specimens of Rose Quartz in my collection but mostly from Brazil. Sad to say, I have no Rose Quartz from Namibia. Great excuse for a road trip. Do you thing that I could sneak, that large pink one, toward the left side, on my return flight? :>) Thanks for thinking of us and very happy that you had a wonderful trip. Dana

Abandoned, you say? I believe a number of us are thinking along the same lines. Love the lighting and composition. It would make a great postcard! Plenty of room at the top for a location name. And GPS coordinates. :-)

Sorry for my absence through Feb/March. So glad your mentioning this so I could come back and enjoy. Absolutely gorgeous!!! Would love to visit Namibia not only for it's geology but because I'm a desert rat at heart. :) Thanks so much!
