Description

This picture is my second try to light a scene using the HDRI-technique. The Tie-Interceptor has been modeled about two years ago, so please excuse me for this low-detailed-version. I'm currently creating a new Interceptor. The Background has been created using Terragen, my opinion is, that this background-pic really adds to the scene... Here are the Render-Times: Athlon 2000+ / 512MB: 4Minutes (Terragen) + 19 Minutes (Cinema4D)

looks beautiful, but theres something about the lightsource that doesnt make sense. I think it might be the gradation in the sky. Seems like if the sun is behind the viewer that you wouldnt be getting that much over exposure... The hdri lit the tie-interceptor perfectly tho...

What is this HDRI lighting technique. I've heard it mentioned a couple of time and don't know what your talking about. Love this image. I personally think the ship looks great and the background is super cool too!

I give it an 8, because it needs more grungy textures on the Tie, as well as an element to give the feeling of the speed that these ships travel. Otherwise, the background, model, and radiosity are supurb.

I too am curious about cinema4d and hdri. how do you do it? I didn't think hdri capability was in cinema, unless maybe I'm not fully understanding what hdri really is. care to elucidate?

C4D Does'nt have HDRI (Which stands for 'High Dynamic Range Image). So I assume that SDI is actually using GI image based lighting? Someone did do a plugin which allows the import of HDRI images, is that what you have SDI ? Nice image BTW. :)

I currently do not own a plugin for HDRI but you can do a little workaround by using HDR-Shop. This program can convert the HDR-Format to some other formats that C4D can handle. And after that: Use GI to highlight your scene :) 100 points to sdaniels!
