Description
Alright folks, with my system limping along--can't render in Vue, Cinema, anything complex in Poser--I've been working on a project that I had on the back burner for a while. And I'm glad I had it back there because I think it is coming a long much better as a result. Initially I had started converting my other predator stuff to Mike 3, but I never really liked Mike 3, and wanted to wait for Mike 4. I think it has paid off.
This is still very much a WIP, as the textures need much refining, especially mike's body. It's too flat. Needs some detailing, and mottling, especially in the hands.
There are four heads so far. That's so far because I'm going to do a complete custom head as well. They are all rigged with the neck guard thing attached. I used the heads I made before, and made a new one as well which I'll probably show in the next post--for some reason Bryce can still render without resulting in a sudden power cut to my system like any other app, including games.
For the heads, I've done the Scar AVP head, the Original "Anytime" head, the Original Predator 2 head, and now the Wolf head. Like I said I plan on adding a custom head to that, inspired by an early bust of wolf, and some Narin sculpts--check out www.predatorstuff.com to see his stuff, under models and kits I think.
There will be more armor bits, skulls on a leather sash, a bag of skulls, a new combistick or spear, a new smart disk.
Notice the whip there is inspired by AVPR but unlike the movie where the whip looks more or less like an alien tail, and can magically cut aliens apart, I went for a razor whip, where the whole thing is sharp and could actually slice things apart. It uses Easy Pose too, which is great.
The hair for the predator is all new as well. Two layers, may do a third, but might not be necessary. There are 200 bones per layer of hair--man I wish Poser had soft bodies :P--and I may figure out how to get easy poser into it. Might be freaky tedious though, but we will see. Either way, I think boning the hair still yields a better result in the end than just some morphs on un-rigged hair. Just my personal opinion.
There will be more than one body texture to suit the heads as well, but that is a ways off yet.
What I'm hoping to do is market at least the armor, as say Hunter Harness or something, and have the heads, feat, etc as free gifts. IF I'm able to market this stuff it will not be expensive at all, as I want it rather affordable because the last predator I did was free. But it will be priced probably in the 10 dollar range maybe. Who knows. A while off yet anyways.
Also I'm super hyped about Predators. The trailer was supposed to be out today, but seems they still only have the sneak peak up. For those that haven't seen it go to www.predators-movie.com I think. Heh.
Anyways, let me know what you think. I will show more features in further renders too, like the rigged medipac that is worn on his back. It opens up.
Cheers
Darrin

I would pay top dollar for any of your Alien or Predator stuff. It's awesome. Glad to see it's for M4 too.

"Poser Physics" is an application I bought for Poser 7 that you can assign to bones to make them move and fall without animating them (much like cloth). You can specify the 'stifness' of the joints so things can move less freely also. This can work for hair, tails, even whips. http://www.contentparadise.com/productdetails.aspx?id=527 I suspect if you also included collission detection you could have osme killer looking and animated dreads without all the tedious keyframing.

There are few words to render justice to this Predator. It's the closest thing I ever saw to the real deal and I really can't wait to see it in action. Oh wait, I can and I must, but you get my meaning :p It's very thorough in the details and the additional heads are a very impressive touch. The idea of a sharp whip makes a of of sense too. "krrrrr ANYTIME..."
