Today we were blessed with wonderful news!!
My granddaughter Kayla was born with a heart murmur caused by a hole in the wall of her heart between the left and right ventricals. It has never been life threatening but was always a concern - especially for certain medical and dental procedures. We took her for a check-up at her pediatric cardiologist today and the news is that the hole has shrunk to a mere .9 of a millimeter!!!! The doctor is very, very happy and only wants to see her in 2 years time just before she goes to 'big' school! What a blessing!!! We are so grateful!!!
I snapped this image a mere 30 minutes ago! She is visiting me until Friday morning which means I'm not at work!!! Yay!!!

This is a really good news! I remember when I was a child there was a girl living on the same street (she was about 4-5 yrs younger than me), and she had the same problem, but her heart's hole never shrunk and she was supposed to have a surgery... This is a very lovely portrait, and she is a beauty!

That is wonderful news! I had a friend in school with that exact same problem, and she had to have heart surgery in 7th grade. So happy to hear she's doing so well, and maybe next time at check-up there will be no hole at all. She is a beautiful girl.

Oh, Carin, this is indeed wonderful news. My niece had the same problem, and in fact was going to need surgery. The came for that, and my sister had to hand her daughter to the nurse, and watch her go thru those doors to the operating room. Less than an hour later, the doctor walked out with a huge smile on his face. They hadn't been able to do a particular test the day before because my niece put up such a fuss. When she was sedated for the surgery, they did the test---and the same thing---the hole had closed!! She's now 22, and a beautiful young woman!!

This is fantastic news and I take it as an omen, since right now I'm dealing with the fact that Corey has a hole in his heart as well and needs surgery! Ugh...it sucks when anybody needs surgery and it's worse when your best friend needs it! He's in good shape now, but the effects of his cardiac condition are evident (he's no longer able to walk insane distances before realizing that he's walked an insane distance--up stairs no less!) As for this picture, it's marvelous and full of vibrant life. I always feel that black and white photography reveals more of the emotional nature of the subject and that's definitely the case now. This is a superb shot and it has good news with it also. Fantastic work on multiple levels.
