Hi everybody,
My name is Dana Pommet and my wife’s name is Josephine. I was born in Gloucester, Massachusetts, in 1942, and except for a tour in the Navy, lived there for most of my life. I retired to Delray Beach, Florida in December 2000. We love to travel and photography goes hand and hand with that. I went digital about 5 years ago and started posting November 22, 2008. I have met so many wonderful people on RR and that makes this whole process so much more interesting than just posting photos. Thanks for all the comments and keep them coming.
Update  January 2012: After hiding and denying my mild Dyslexia, for most of my professional life, and now fighting with its advancement – I want to thank you all for putting up with my poor typing skills and spelling problems. I know that my spell checker hates me and I now depend completely on audio books rather then actually reading printed books.  Life marches on!  ÂÂ

Great shot of this one! I love watching them soar! We've a couple that nest near where I work and I look forwar to them returning to their nest.

Great shot! And thanks for the information; I didn't know their sex can be identified in that manner. I've gotta read those books more often!

Nice shot its always difficult to get detail in flying birds, this one looks a bit like the Red Kites that we see around here, my friend was lucky to see one drop in on a pigeon in her garden , the pigeon was not so lucky though.

Wow...really exceptional shot of such a beautiful bird. One of my favorite birds of prey.

Bella cattura , Dana , ho avuto la fortuna ,una settimana fa , di vederlo all'opera nei suoi tuffi in acqua per artigliare la preda, spettacolare ! Beautiful capture, Dana, I was lucky, a week ago to see him work in his dives into the water to claw their prey, spectacular!

Cool capture of the avian, seeking its prey down below, Dana. I'm amazed at the stunning six foot wingspan of these and similar waterfowl.

Ospreys are among my favorite birds, so much so that I named a class of starship after them, but the world has yet to read of "Osprey class cruisers" but hopefully I'll get my act together and finish the piece of fiction inspired by those birds. Since I love those birds, there's no way I'd fail to like this picture! The details are amazing, especially zoomed. I particularly like the faint whispers of light shining through the wing feathers. Brilliant!
