Description

This is the Skagit River in early February. I'm standing under Highway 9 (out of the rain) where it crosses the Skagit, just south of Sedro Woolley. Denise posted an image a little while ago that looks upstream from the same place entitled Bridge to Nowhere That was such a fun day! MrsRatbag, bmac62 and I drove up into the Skagit Valley on a lovely rainy day and goofed around until it got dark. Going out shooting with other photographers is absolutely at the top of my list of things I like to do!

This is such a lovely shot! I have one like it, but it's nowhere near as pretty as this; you got the delicate colour of the water perfectly, and the wonderful sense of rain in the treetops. Well done!

nice capture of a dreary scene. Just what the Dr ordered as we are coming into Spring. How green it must be getting now!

This is one beautiful scene. I love the color of the river and add that to the color of the row of trees on the far bank and you have a spectacular photo. I like the wet rocks too. Guess you get the idea that I like this picture.

I love the exposure on this - pulls the trees in the foreground out very well! Well done, Clive

Such delicate beauty there in the background! I should love to go out taking pics with other photogaraphers but I don't know any near me who would want to!

This is one of those pictures that fits into the category of how did she do that? Mastering a gray, rainy day is no easy task for a photographer. And here you've done just that. Your composition is just right and the lighting perfect for the day at hand. Since you and Denise have posted successfully from this shoot...I better go back and review my candidates:)

Fantastic photo! This would be where you'd be sitting around a campfire, sheltered of course, and just enjoying the day!

Very nice depth to this one. I need to learn how to just shoot on days like this instead of griping about the weather. I can pretty well guarantee if I take a vacation, the rainy, cloudy weather will follow me wherever I go. So, if you and Bill, and Denise want some nice, moody shots in the rain, I'll keep you informed about my next vacation plans LOL! Seriosly, you've taken a not-so-great photography day, and manged to make a work of art out of it! Well done, Tara! Yeah, Bill, dig your shots out - I'd love to see your take on this :-D

A perfect shot, Tara, love the composition, the slight turquoise hint of the water, the roots of the trees, the wet stones...

Spooky Gothic all the way in this fine shot, and what I've always imagined Skagit to look like in the winter.

It's funny. Victor always refers to rivers with a masculine pronoun and in seeing this, I'm driven to say: "He is a good river." Just goes to show how impressionable I can be, especially if a lanky Russian is involved! I love this image though and yeah, "he" is a nice river. I love those trees along his bank and their gnarled roots just above-ground! The rain adds a nicely fog-like sense of mystery to this picture, and that's always a good thing! I really like this shot! It's a goodie!

A seemingly simple image with a lot going on. My eye was first drawn to the large flat rock at the lower right and then to the rock at the center and up the trees in the foreground. My reward is the dreamy, hazy background and the celadon water fading to light turquoise. And the lighting is perfect. You've done this photography thing before, haven't you?
