You might spot me at Kirra Beach, the South-Eastern end of the Gold Coast, Australia, if you like beach walking like myself... but there is more ! My son Jeff (*jif3d*, here at Rendo, it helps to advertise, ooops)... he took this pic of me in 2000, then manipulated it in photo-shop and it's still one of my favourites. Just very briefly about my past... *born in East Prussia; *grew up in Berlin, West Germany; *migrated to "OZ" in 1960, (not the Wizard of Oz) but...AUSTRALIA ! I guess I was more into '2D' since early childhood, and thinking that my son Jeff may have inherited some of my artistic skills, because he translated them into '3D'. I am hooked on photography, since I discovered cameras... that's it in a nutshell. BTW - one of my fav.quotes.... ** I cannot give you the formula for success, but I can give you the formula for failure - which is trying to please everybody !** that's a wrap... Cheers Brigitte.

Fantastic photo. Quelle domage!! I know the callistemon well. Those Ozzie caterpillars might be pretty (they are, and they are photogenic), but please don't send any across the ditch to us. You are welcome to them!!

Yikes They remind me of gummy worms .. but I wouldn't eat them.. :)

Yikes! If they grow 6 feet long, you can make "grub-steak" out of them! (Yup, there it is...I said it!)

What teamwork! they look like a type of sawfly, but those whiptails are fantastic! SUPERB!

I thought about those jelly worms too when I saw these. :-) I find they do leave a fascinating lacy decoration behind... nicely done.

What teamwork! Fascinating. I have never seen such voracious eating. Glad you got these pictures...evidence for the prosecuter. Arrest them and haul them to jail. Or did you administer garden justice already. LOL

terrific capture, never seen before!

Too bad they are eating the plant but what a fantastic pattern they are leaving behind!

These are super captures and though they are doing a lot of damage they really do leave a great pattern behind and they are rather cute aren't they. I wonder what they hatch into. I thought the beautiful callistemon would be immune to caterpillars as the leaves are fairly tough, but it just goes to show you. I like how you have presented these too.

They leaves a lovely skeleton of the leaves. Strange looking little guys. Great shots!

I'm never going to eat another Gummi-worm ever again lol!

Very interesting... Never seen this kind of caterpillars... are they imported from China? :D

Superb shot! I like what's left of the leaf. These caterpillars may have a huge appetite, but they devour leaves "artistically"...
