Description

This is a brewery sporting a medieval atmosphere just below the Castle of Prague, and I have to say that their way to capture the tourists' fancy is pretty effective. In fact the guy at first checked that the prisoner was a nannequin, then entered. You never know! The beer is excellent, and it's likely that they have been serving beer since the Middle Ages. Here the German community lived, but after the king decided to build the castle they were forced to move their houses elsewhere. However, as it always happened, shops and trade flourished along the narrow streets along the castle walls. And they still do. Not all of you who commented about the price on the menus in the previous post knew that the Euro has not been adopted by the Czech Republic, even if they'll adopt it in the near future. So, to get an idea of the prices, 1 euro = 24,49 Czech crowns (CZK) 1 US dollar = 18, 42 CZK 190 CZK (the price on the menu ): = 7, 75 euros or 10, 31 USD. Very cheap according to Italian standards. Thank you for your kind comments.

Great shot Sandra. You captured the atmosphere of this great city perfectly with this one. It not only makes me want to drink Pilsener, but also eat a good meal!

Stagione molto imprevedibile!

WOW! The Crown is doing quite well! It's eating at the Dollar rather impressively! They were supposed to switch to the Euro next year, but they might or might not...they keep delaying the date. I remember this guy. It feels strange to not pay much attention as you're walking and then see his arms sticking out from the cellar window! It is quite a shock! And WOW! I know exactly where you were standing when you took this shot! This makes me feel nostalgic. You were in such a nice part of town when you got this shot...okay, you were also in a very STEEP part of town as well. Even better, there's a guy going IN to enjoy a good liter of beer! Nice! I envy him! We have Pilsner Urquell in Chicago, but not in Czech sized bottles! What I also like (aside from EVERYTHING) in this picture, is those arms holding the torches. Prague has so many of those details, so many disembodied body parts holding things! I love it! This is quite superb!
