Description

Landing at SFO--I l love watching all the amazing things the wings and the flaps do as a plane takes off and lands. I also send up a little word of thanks to the goddess who gets me back down safely. I still can't figure out how it all happens, how that HUGE thing gets off the ground and FLIES--but I'm so glad it does. Beats the heck outta walkin!! taking off

Heck! Don't worry about it, all that scientific stuff about lift and drag and gravity is just words. It's really magic that keeps you in the air!!!! ;)

It certainly isn't an Alpha plane. It's rolled over and is showing you understuff. Nice plane. Good Plane!!

I never cease to get excited with takeoffs and landings! Seriously I'm like a big kid! For those few seconds, I 'AM' Chuck Yeager!!

Oh, I love flight. It's even more mind boggling when you realize that on some planes the fuel tanks are in the wings! For me that basically means that the wings have liquid centers, rather like strange, metallic candy with that squishy stuff in the middle. It's always strawberry or cherry flavored, though I have yet to taste strawberries of cherries with that particular artificial flavor. Anyway, I'm rambling, as I tend to do after one too many Dr. Peppers. I love this shot and all of the excitement it shows and implies. This is super.

Landing I can handle!!! Wonderful shots to show the "brakes"... Even though I completely understand the dynamics of flying and how this massive steel things stays in the air - I'm still a terrible flyer!

Nice shots. I work at SFO on airbus A320s. I used to work on Boeing B737s (Guppies) and B757s (pictured) but I've thankfully been transferred from them.

A simple case of aerodynamics and very powerful engines, my dear. Outstanding clarity and lighting effects in this marvo collage, M!

When I was younger, I really hated flying. In fact I hated flying for most of my life, until I went to visit my parents in Florida and had to fly. It wasn't so bad. I actually liked it. This reminds me of that time, just sitting there trying to figure out why I hated flying so much in the first place. Great shot.
