Description

Nothing like geese for comic relief. Captured 5/10/10, at beautiful Legg Lake in the beautiful Whittier Narrows Recreation Area in not-so-beautiful South El Monte, California. Better viewed full size. I was ultra fortunate getting in this shot, because this fowl -- who I believe is of the Canadian variety of goose -- came walking up very fast, and was very close to my lens, so I had extremely little time to center, focus and size it in my viewfinder before it disappeared into the middle of a gaggle of geese, ducks and pigeons, honking loudly and displaying intimidating defiance and bullying tactics. They are real characters. Who needs television when you have both comedy and drama in birdland. And, this is indisputable proof that geese have tongues. Adios, amigos, thankx for stopping by, and for any and all complimentary comments and favs.

LOL! A goosy raspberry! Guess he didn't think much of photographers; or maybe he's had a lot of trouble with papparazzi? Great capture of this saucy goose!

I'm very happy to see that you found a Canada goose that liked you. :>) They can be very agressive. Great capture and don't turn your back on them. Dana

Well, you should now know a lot of swear words in goose language! Excellent shot! Mammoth tongue! Foul mouthed fowl! I'm glad you explored this recreational area. I look forward to more of your postings of irritable birds! :-)

Lol, definitely a showstar, Harry, and glad you had the opportunity to take this fine shot, as a) proof of geese having tongues and b) proof of them being protective of their territory and c) undeniable proof that the can make a very long neck in stretching it
