Description

As Chipka commented in my last posting, one can't stop seeing the strangest statues on the roofs and the facades of the buildings in Prague. Some are famous, others are more obscure,others belong to different periods, but all of them are very beautiful and help give the city her special flavour. I couldn't find why this particular subject was chosen here, so you can imagine any type of story. Decorated with firefighter statues and a mosaic piece, this Art Nouveau building in Old Town Square was designed by Osvald Poliveka and finished in 1898. Now it houses the Ministry of Regional Development. This is the first of a small series. Thank you for your kind comments.

I'm not there now, but Prague is my home city. I once heard that home is where you leave your socks! Oh wait, does that mean that some random Czech guy named Pavl has a home in Chicago, since I have a pair of his socks...yeah, and I still wear them. Anyway, WOW! What an image. I've seen this guy (and woman) from a distance but never photographed them. I can't claim Prague as "my city" but she has certainly claimed me! I love the perspective of this image and the typical Czech loopiness...art is such a HUGE part of Czech life it seems, even the graffiti is artistic--and at times, incredibly clever! There must be something in the water there, and whatever it is, it should be deemed a national treasure. This is marvelous and such a touching dedication. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Děkuju vám. Baví mě to!
