Description

As I'm gradually getting my new home settled in and presentable I'm able to share some of what I'm doing these days. I posted a picture once before of my collection of musical instruments, but realized as I looked at it that it was far from the complete set. So this one, in the "studio" room that also houses my computers, has what I believe to be nearly all of my musical instruments. The list is kind of scary for me to think about: 12 drums of various types, including one "tongue drum" which is the wooden box with shapes cut in the top. It sounds much like a marimba. There's 3 rattles, one is bamboo with a type of nut inside, the other is the gourd with nuts wrapped around the outside, and one is made of reeds with rice inside. 2 didgeridoos 2 blowing horns (cow horns made into instruments) 2 flutes: one from Mexico, one from Indonesia 3 Indian Elephant Bells 1 Rain Stick 1 Thumb Piano 1 Mountain Dulcimer Think maybe it's time to find something new to collect? Now all I need to do is move the paintings on the wall a little bit so they're not covered up! Thanks for taking a look everyone, and have a wonderful day.

This is too cool! Looks like an amazing collection of instruments. Do you play any of them? Fascinating craftsmanship on there.

I have had the mountain dulcimer and the kalimba (thumb piano). No longer play anything. Sigh.

What a collection! How many of these do you play? I won't be surprised to learn that you play (and have composed intricate compositions for all of them!) I love the display, and an intimate glimpse into your personality, as one can't help but reveal when showing personal possessions. Marvelous work. I wish I had my own pitiful collection of instruments. Well, I still have my rain stick, but my kalimba is now in the possession of an ex I'll never see again. Oh well...at least I can enjoy this picture.

(((Michael)))...It's been way too long this time around, hasn't it? I'm trying. Please bear with me while I catch up. And there are so many images I've missed in your gallery, that I've decided to settle in tomorrow, and go through them in earnest. I refuse to rush through them. They deserve far more than that. Ohhh! LOVING this! (And, belated congrats on the new digs!) And, now, I have to tell you just how much I'm into this pic, though I probably won't be able to put it into words sufficiently. I'd really like to reach right through this monitor, and experiment with some of these. I have only my 3 rainsticks to keep me amused. But, since I'm cursed/blessed with being insanely tactile and auditory, they're well used. Beautiful eye (and ear) feast! Thanks for the view. I so hope you're doing well these days, my friend. More from me very soon. :) '
