Description

This image is dedicated to Fatima. (morganahope). She is a fantastic artist, and one of the kindest people I know. Her gallery is a pleasure to visit, and features beautiful works of art with gentle themes. Fatima shared many lovely memories with me about growing up in her wonderful country of Brazil. This is one of the most beautiful stories I have ever heard, and touched me the most. To be honest I was not sure if I would ever create another image. Because of Fatima's friendship, her stories, and kindness to me I felt it in my heart to do this for her. I hope everyone enjoys sharing her memories also. Hugs Dave Road To Paradise (For morganahope): When Fatima was a child she was always excited when her family would go visit her Grandparents. Her Grandmother was a sweet lady, and loved children. Her Dad Arlindo would get their horse "White", and hitch him to the wagon they used in the fields. Fatima and her dog "Lion" were the first in the wagon, so excited about their trip. Soon her sister Nasira and her Mom Nazira arrived and off they would go. It was a long trip, and the road seemed to go on forever, but that was okay because each trip was a magical one. They would set on bales of hay while Nazira told them wonderful stories the whole trip. She told them the history of their family and of their beautiful Brazil. She told them of the two cowboys that had died long ago, and were now buried along the road. After a long trip and many stories you could hear the whistle of a train to let you know the magical journey was almost over. Fatima remembers this as the road to paradise. Where there was no arguing or fighting, only a family sharing a trip and their love for each other. Credits: V.H. Its so wonderful to see you posting Dave! You are such a compassionate man, you always see the best in everyone and it shows in the work you do that your heart is big and loving. I know I don't get here often but your works are one of my favorite places to come. You stir memories long forgotten by your simply beautiful art, you give a great sense of peace in your gentle and sweet work. We would all be missing you if you didn't post. This image and story reminds me of the many trips we made to my grandmothers as a child, some by car and some by train through the Cascade mountains in Washington state. Most trips were made by train in the winter for holidays, but those made by car I remember the games the three of us played, and remember that we were happy then...its one of the few times that the three of us kids were happy. Thank you for sharing your friends story and for bringing warm memories to mind in doing so! Hugs!

Sublime art as usual! i love how you blend the image and the story, which are apparently minimalist, but leave open the door to imagination. Another jewel.

Dave, why are you saying you would not create another image, I know where you live don't forget that haha~ but seriously this site just wouldn't be the same without you or the wonderful images you create, and your stories you do for the members here they are truly a treasure to each of us. Plus we get to learn about different members here and in a way meet their families and get a feel for their history and traditions, so I sure hope you continue to do more. Wonderful work always a pleasure to see a new upload from you my friend.

This is very beautiful interpretation of Fatima's childhood trip. As with every image you have posted, you ensure that the littlest detail is taken care of so as not to detract from the image and the story it accents.

My favorite children's story teller is at it again = BRAVO!!! And you were thinking of what? What? I didn't tell you all that GI Joe stuff to see you sit and stare at your computer - It was to get you MOTIVATED! Come with me on a trip... Stand GI Joe up on the other side of the hill = damn... it all just came back to me.... My Friend Bert and I would be on opposite sites of the hill we'd have to stand our dolls up about 20 feet from the hill. when we were ready, we'd run to the side next to each other so we could see the set up then one of us would throw a few dirtclods over the hill in hopes of taking out our opponent = lol... after we threw about 3 to ten dirtclods each, then we'd move them a foot closer = when I talked to you about this earlier, I forgot some of this stuff - funny how the mind can remember stuff it hasn't thought of in 40 years = lol ...no more talk about hanging it up.... You aught to think about puting these short stories in a book = make something out of it and run to it instead of away.

You've created such a wonderful piece and a story telling that brings us all back in time when everything was simple but well worth because it was spent with shared laughter with families and friends. You have captured that essence of fun, joy and love that in these busy times we don't find much anymore. I've seen parents who let their children come home from school and both parents are still at work. A big change from those simple times. Well presented, Dave. In every art you make, you always leave a smile to each and everyone who will see and enjoy your work. Thank you for sharing your passion for life's beauty... a family's love.
