Description

I'm back from my trip to Cape Town and Durban - completely exhausted but happy that all went very well! It started off rather tragically with me forgetting me camera at home! Oh YES - I did!!! I was SO bitterly upset and bleak with myself! Luckily one of the guys that travelled with us, recently returned from Dubai with all kinds of toys, took pity on me and gave me his little point and shoot camera to use! Bless him!!! So, I did the best I could with what I had!!! This is the view from the hotel's deck. We stayed in the Radisson Blu Hotel in Cape Town. The marina is a private marina and of course Table Mountain under it's blanket in the background. The one side of the hotel is just visible and the basket-like structure showing just behind the hotel is Cape Town's brand new stadium for the Soccer World Cup. I will post a proper picture of it later! I'm WAY behind in commenting and I will try to catch up as best I can! Thank you for your wonderful comments and favs on my portrait of Kayla! I really appreciate it! Stay well! Hugs Carin xx

Oh, I know how that goes--I'm lost and forlorn without my camera. Looks like you were able to use your friend's camera just fine!! My son's first serious girlfriend was from Cape Town, nice to see a teeny bit of it.

OH NO! I should have died, I'm sure! I can't even manage the shops without it...Still point and shoot is fine, that's all I ever need myself. This looks SUCH a lovely place to stay, Carin.

Great job with your borrowed camera! Always wanted to visit Capetown and the rest of S.A. My large Cannon, with all the lenses, is often impractical to carry. So I make sure to always have my point and shoot with me; many of the photos in my gallery were taken with it.

Now, that's the kind of place I could put my feet up and enjoy just kicking back. Glad you had a fellow traveler with a spare camera:)

You forgot your camera Carin !!! How could that possibly happen, I thought it was actually permanently attached to you lol. I think I pack my camera before I pack my kids !! And yes, I now have a daughter as well. One thing is it is sometimes good to test yourself out on something unfamiliar and this certainly shows the interest of your location.

I had to rub my eyes and look twice at your comment about forgetting your camera. It may be the stuff of movie and television comedies/dramas, but these things aren't supposed to happen in real life. I would be emotionally shattered if it happened to me. In any event, happy you were able to salvage the trip with a borrowed camera, Carin, which did a yeoman's job in the category of clarity, DOF, and detail.

What a great place for lunch. Beautiful capture and be glad that your camera was safe at home. I had mine stolen after our granddaughter’s year end championship tournament - including the team photos. Ever since, all photos get downloaded to my laptop every night. Dana

Wonderful capture and how nice of that gentleman to lend you his camera. I would be upset if I didn't have my camera with me

Judging by the comments you are part of a group that could only be without their cameras if they had been sugically removed. Glad to see the little camera worked so well. It's a great picture. Table mountain looks impressive.

Amazing impression in this shot. What a stunning basket-building. Love the view very much. I can imagine how it scared you, because you forgot your camera, dear Carin

I would love to stroll there with a particular someone (who shall remain nameless) and voraciously snap pictures. The whole scene here is gorgeous, and WOW what colors! I particularly like the color of the water and the gentle shimmers, and well...the angles, the shapes, and the mountain with those clouds just covering it are all wonderful details in an overall wonderful shot. I've had times when I forgot my camera, and I'm glad that you had the use of a simple point and shoot! You worked well with it!
