I am 58 years young, live in Johannesburg, South Africa and I'm a true product of my continent. I love the bush, the animals, sunshine, sunsets - oh well, anything to do with nature. I am unmarried and have three sons - 37, 33 and 30 respectively and three granddaugters aged 12, 6 and 4 respectively and obviously the light of my life! Photography has always been a passion and I have loved it since I can remember. I was still using a SLR camera and only switched to digital only in late 2007! My other passion is travel and I have been lucky enough to have travelled fairly widely. There are however still many, many places I would love to visit "one day." I am truly an amateur photographer and do it merely as a hobby. So please be gentle when you comment on my work. :-) Thank you Piet, my dear friend, for convincing me to place my work on Renderosity. You owe me one! Hugs, Carin xx

Stunning workmanship and a wonderful capture. I share you frustration about people whose only purpose in being born seems to be ruining your shots. I once engaged in a footrace with another person who seemed determined to reach a statue of Ramsis at Abu Simbel and ruin my shot. I won. As for the World Cup, at least folks in your part of world are excited about it. We have had a well known conservative pundit speak darkly about 'soccer' and how the rest of the world seeks to 'jam it down our throats' so that we will accept it, the better to bring socialism to America. I am not kidding. Never a dull moment.

Yep! That's a door when they knew how to build doors! It is on the BIG side! Got to find a 'door' for Bill and Tara! lol Great find from the files! Love it.. BIG England game tonight... 'Three Lions on their shirt.. etc!' Rob

Now THAT is a door!! Wow. What detail! It's totally over the top without being over the top, if you know what I mean! LOL! (Well, and I supposed it's over the top of the door as well, so there you go.) :P Excellent shot! I blew this up to an insane size (400%, I think) and it was still easy to see. Gorgeous work, Dierbaar! Dankie! :*

lol, great that you thought of bill & tara, I certainly remember tara shooting every door in sight when she was in chicago. But she didn't see one like this! As architectural capture, it's very sensitively done, you have to know that. I did architectural rendering years ago---ie, drawing architecture, which I say only because "rendering" today means 3D---and I learned very quickly how much there is to capture in facades like this. You got a lot of high detail in a very broad shot (as these entryways are quite large), and you also got a lot of clarity in the several rows of religious figures sitting in their rather formal poses. The shade & tones in the upper two rows are beautiful. And your central composition---allowing the madonna & child to show so well, as well as the big deity figure atop---is perfect for the mass of statuary & carving of this door. And you gave us the beautiful blue-purplish tint of the lower portion (I don't know if that's tarnished brass or what), which gives the image its fundament. A really fine architectural capture, and a great gift for our door-hungry friends out in the Pacific Northwest. Before you said it was London, I thought: Wow! You guys got some heavy frickin' doors out there. Really fine work, Carin.
